Teapots hang in this quirky restaurant in a 16th-century house, serving traditional pancakes....
Upstairs Pancakes is a little slice of Amsterdam history. Tucked inside a 16th century house, itβs known as the smallest pancake restaurant in Europe, with only four tables and about 18 seats. Getting there is part of the experience. You climb a steep, narrow staircase that feels straight out of a storybook and arrive in a tiny, cozy space filled with vintage paintings, Dutch royal portraits, and teapots hanging from the ceiling. Every corner feels like it has a story, and the intimate setting makes it feel like a hidden gem. The menu keeps things classic, but the standout is the Dutch pancake with brie and bacon. Sweet, salty, crispy around the edges and soft in the middle. The brie melts beautifully into the pancake while the bacon adds the perfect savory bite. Simple but incredibly satisfying. Pair it with a hot coffee or a traditional Dutch hot chocolate and you have the perfect cozy stop while exploring the city. Upstairs Pancakes isnβt just about the food, itβs about the charm, the history, and the experience of sitting in one of the tiniest and most memorable restaurants in Amsterdam. A friend recommended this place... Love the old world charm and feel of the place... Unique interriors Pancakes - many savoury and sweet options to choose from.. I liked the sweet pancake- KING!!! Overall good visit. Small steep stairs could be scary...
A solid spot for pancakes in Amsterdam. Make sure you call ahead during the week for a reservation! It was a comforting atmosphere and the food was pretty good. For a unique breakfast setting, check this out when you're in Amsterdam!
Drink menu was unreasonably expensive. Pancake quality wasnβt that high but I really liked mine with Brie Bacon and honey. Taking the steep stairs is truly a Dutch experience and it was fun. The place was too cute and being known for its size is something you have to do on your visit in Amsterdam!
This place was fantastic! The restaurant is tucked upstairs, with a cozy and eclectic vibe that adds to the charm. Be prepared to share a table, it's part of the experience and a great way to meet new people. The food is simple but incredibly delicious. I highly recommend it; dining here is an experience all in its own.
