Scoring Methodology

How we score places

Every score on World Work Map is transparent, traceable, and designed to answer one question: can I get good work done here?

The overall score

Each place receives an overall work-friendliness score from 0 to 10. This score is a weighted average of five component scores, each measuring a dimension that matters for productive remote work.

The weights reflect what remote workers tell us matters most. WiFi reliability is the single biggest factor, followed by an even split between outlet access, noise levels, and comfort, with coffee and ambiance rounding out the picture.

Component scores

WiFi

Weight: 25%

Speed reliability, consistency throughout the day, and whether it is free or requires a purchase.

Confidence levels

Not all scores are created equal. A score based on 50 user reviews is far more reliable than one inferred from a single Google review. That is why every score displays a confidence level.

High
80-100%

Multiple user reports, business-confirmed data, and recent activity. You can rely on this score.

Medium
50-79%

Some user reports available, or AI-inferred data with partial user confirmation. Generally reliable.

Low
20-49%

Mostly AI-inferred from limited sources. Could be accurate but should be taken with a grain of salt.

Very Low
0-19%

Minimal data available. Score is a rough estimate. Help us improve it by leaving a review.

Data provenance

Every data point on World Work Map is tagged with its source. You always know where information comes from and can judge its reliability for yourself.

AI-inferredLowest trust

Generated by analyzing Google reviews, photos, venue descriptions, and other public data. This is our baseline layer -- it provides initial scores for venues that have not yet been reviewed by users.

User-reportedHigh trust

Scores and details contributed by remote workers who have actually visited and worked at the venue. User reports carry more weight in our algorithm and increase confidence levels.

Business-confirmedHighest trust for factual data

Venue owners who claim their listing can confirm factual details like WiFi speeds, number of outlets, seating capacity, and opening hours. These data points are marked with a verified badge.
