Our Story

Helping remote workers find their perfect workspace, anywhere

World Work Map was born from a simple frustration: finding a reliable place to work while traveling should not require hours of research, trial and error, and crossed fingers.

Where it started

In 2024, a group of remote workers found themselves repeatedly asking the same questions in every new city: "Which cafe has reliable WiFi?", "Where can I take a video call without background noise?", "Is there a coworking space that does not require a monthly commitment?"

Existing solutions were either outdated, focused only on coworking spaces, or lacked the specific details remote workers actually need -- like outlet availability, noise levels, and whether the staff minds you camping out for four hours on a single latte.

So we built World Work Map: a community-powered platform that maps and scores workspaces on the metrics that actually matter to people who work from laptops.

How we collect data

Our data comes from three layers, each clearly labeled so you know exactly what you are looking at:

AI-inferred

Initial scores generated from public information like Google reviews, photos, and venue descriptions. These provide a starting point.

User-reported

Real reviews and ratings from remote workers who have actually worked there. This is our most trusted data source.

Business-confirmed

Venue owners who claim their listing can confirm details like WiFi speeds, outlet counts, and laptop-friendliness.

Our commitment

We will never accept payment for higher scores. We will never hide negative reviews. We will always show where our data comes from. If a score changes, we will explain why. Transparency is not just a feature -- it is our product.

What we stand for

Radical transparency

Every score links to its source. Every data point is traceable. We show our methodology because we have nothing to hide.

Community first

Our data comes from real remote workers who share their experiences. No paid placements, no fake reviews, no hidden agendas.

Accuracy over quantity

We would rather have 100 well-verified places than 10,000 unverified listings. Confidence levels tell you exactly how reliable each score is.
