Antique decor... a tad dusty... authentic...a generally very well visited by both celebs and Royals. Lots of extremely dense and tasty pastries and other delights to choose from. I helped myself to a latte and a rather large choco/banana muffin. It was rich but also scrumptious. They play old school music and the crew are a eccentric bunch. None of the clocks work but I think the entire point is to forget time ...and your laptop. Drop ya phone and take in the old stool Danish tunes and traditions, its def worth a visit! Mormors rests on one of CPH antique/art streets so theres plenty of overpriced art to also indulge your eyes in as you walk to granny's.
"If you are looking for the ultimate Danish hygge experience in Copenhagen, Mormors Cafe on Bredgade is an absolute must-visit! 🇩🇰 The moment you see the charming storefront adorned with Danish flags and festive decorations, you know you're in for something special. We sat at the outdoor sidewalk tables, which are perfect for people-watching near Amalienborg Palace. Even on a cooler day, the atmosphere was incredibly cozy. The food was fresh and high-quality: Sandwiches & Salads: Crisp, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Coffee & Juice: The coffee was smooth and paired perfectly with their famous pastries, and the fresh juice was a refreshing bonus. The interior is like stepping into a nostalgic treasure chest—it literally translates to 'Grandmother’s,' and it feels just that welcoming. Whether you're stopping for a quick lunch or a long coffee break, this is a five-star gem in the heart of the city!"
Copenhagen has tons of coffee places but this one is my favorite. I live nearby and whenever I can, especially after my early morning runs, I just love to stop by. It's a quirky, retro café with a Christmas twist. It feels like stepping into your grandma's living room - I mean, if she collected dolls and ruled toys kingdom, lol :) Service is nice and kind - give it a try!
Worth a trip if only for the vibe of drinking coffee among hanging naked baby dolls 😂 this place is a fever dream in the best way! Plus the pastries and drinks are delicious. I tried the hot chocolate and was impressed by how milky it was. Also not too sweet!
The specific interior, that tempts lots of people to see it is unfortunately the biggest advantage of this place. The pastries are just pure sugar, some parts (as top of the muffin) have so much of it, that it's impossible to eat them. Maybe it has some other tasty things, but after the visit it felt like a tourist trap.
