It is the retesvar bakery in Buda! I tried cherry retes. They sell strudel, retesvar (in different flavours in soir), mulled wine and coffee. It is a very known one so I tried it. In a nutshell, the place is located close to the palace, it is an old bakery, a small one, but a well-known one. I don’t like strudel that much but it was tasty, fresh and warm. Suggested to-do in Budapest!
While visiting buda area, we’ve planned to visit also this tiny pastry shop. We got the cherry strudel and also 2 Parmesan balls and a cup of tea. The Parmesan balls were tasty but a bit too salty. The strudel was insane! Full with amazing filling All of that cost 2,000 forint Very recommended if you visiting buda side!
Budavári Rétesvár is a tiny, almost hidden place tucked away in the Buda Castle area, just a short walk from Fisherman’s Bastion. You can easily miss it if you are not looking carefully, but it is absolutely worth finding. The strudel here is outstanding, and even the hot wine was excellent. We tried the poppy seed strudel and the apple strudel, both were fantastic. I normally do not like poppy seed at all, but this one was truly amazing and completely changed my mind. A small, authentic spot in a beautiful historic location, definitely worth coming over if you are visiting Budapest.
🥐 Lovely hidden bakery in the heart of Budapest! Tiny, cozy place with amazing sweet and savory strudels, good coffee and tea. Perfect stop during a long walk — to rest, recharge, and enjoy a quiet moment. We were lucky to get one of the two small tables, but it’s worth a visit even just for takeaway! 💛
Cozy little gem just off path from the Fisherman’s Bastion! Very friendly staff and perfect strudels! Apple with walnut was just too delicious (we had to ask another one)
