Ok cave but lots of tourists and feels disingenuous. Some monkeys outside and too many hawkers trying to sell monkey feed and rubbish. Better find another cool temple nearby rather than this one.
We visited this temple as part of an excursion from Ao Nang to Bond Island, and it turned out to be a much more interesting surprise than expected. The area around the temple is full of monkeys, which immediately makes the visit quite memorable. Inside the cave, there is a beautiful large reclining Buddha, along with several areas where visitors can pray or light candles. The cave complex consists of three large chambers. The main one is the most visited, as it’s the easiest to access, while the others require going up and down stairs. Completing the full visit takes around 30 minutes and is definitely worth it. One important thing to keep in mind is the dress code. As this is a sacred temple, women are required to cover their shoulders and knees. Many visitors don’t have appropriate clothing, as previous stops on the excursion usually involve beaches and swimming. If you don’t have suitable clothes, you can buy a sarong at the entrance to cover yourself. For men, uncovered knees are not an issue. The only downside for me was that food is sold at the entrance to feed pigeons. The cave was full of them, which some people may find unpleasant, and the noise can be quite intense due to the echo inside the cave. Overall, a very interesting and worthwhile stop if you’re exploring the Phang Nga area.
Dope cave. I have a feeling locals aren’t taking the temple too seriously now as it’s full of tourists and monkeys but it’s a nice collection of monuments. Monkeys are on the far side, where you can also see bats in their caves sleeping the human interference off. Worth checking it out and the monkeys are fun to feed and watch while interacting.
Review: Monkey Cave Monkey Cave is a really good place to visit — peaceful, unique, and fun to explore. The cave and the reclining Buddha inside are beautiful, and the monkeys around the area make the experience even more interesting. Just one thing to note: the food and snacks sold nearby are a bit touristy and priced on the higher side. But overall, it’s definitely a good spot to visit and worth the trip.
have been here many times, love the monkey man who hands out food and has a chat. There seems to be less monkeys this time and the ones who are there seem a little more aggressive. Pigeons are an absolute pain. We have never witnessed any issues here but people screaming and carrying on when the monkeys go near them set them all off. You go here to feed monkeys. Do it calmly, use common sense and respect them and you won’t have a problem.
