Stylish rooms in a hip lodging occupying former canal houses, offering casual dining & a trendy bar....
i like to think of myself as pretty easygoing, but i’ll admit i’m a bit of a hotel snob. while i’m laid back about most things, hotels is not one of them. so when i say i loved the hoxton amsterdam, i mean it. i rolled in looking like the crypt keeper after ~24 hours of traveling from california and the woman at the front desk could not have been kinder. it was early morning so my room wasn’t ready yet (totally fair), but instead of the robotic “check-in isn’t until x time” speech you sometimes get, she was genuinely warm and helpful and told me she’d call me as soon as something was available. i went to wander around the adorable neighborhood for a bit and sure enough — not long after — she called me to say my room was ready, well ahead of the normal check-in time. it honestly felt like she was rooting for me to have a great stay vs just going through the motions. the room itself? gorgeous. cozy but sleek, insanely comfortable, and with a beautiful view of the canals. i’ve stayed in a lot of hotels over the years and this might have been one of the sexiest hotel rooms i’ve ever had. the lobby/bar area has exactly the right kind of buzz — it feels like the cool place to hang out without being overwhelming — and the cocktails at the bar were excellent. service there was just as friendly as the front desk, which says a lot. the neighborhood and location are also perfect. you’re right in the middle of a great area with tons of shops and restaurants nearby, and the metro is an easy walk away. my only regret is that i could only stay one night because i’d already booked another hotel near my company’s office for the rest of the trip — a mistake i won’t make again. the metro made getting around incredibly easy, and next time i’m in amsterdam for work, the hoxton will absolutely be my home base. already looking forward to my next stay.
Mostly great - buzzy lobby/bar, lovely location, super nice reception staff. Slightly annoying that the restaurant is a destination for other people, making it tough to get in for breakfast as a hotel resident. Wait staff are pretty stressed. The rooms were a little too bare bones for my liking given the price per night, but very comfortable and quiet. There is ALWAYS a line out the door of random people waiting to use the photobooth. Overall, would stay again but the Pulitzer is much nicer.
We arrived early, having easily found this wonderfully located Hotel on the banks of a canal. It warm and welcoming as were the staff, our room was a "Cosy" room overlooking rooftops, but we only slept in it so it was ideal. The bed was large and comfortable and the room spacious with a large bathroom. We had a wonderful three night stay and would return.
I love these hotels and this one is no exception. The staff are well trained, very friendly and behave naturally when dealing with customers. The staff deserve praise at every turn. The hotels is well placed in the heart of Amsterdam. Easy to get around in all directions but is quiet and very clean and comfortable. The beds are wonderful, the food excellent, the coffee is 5 star and the bar serves a whole range of wonderful concoctions. Overall a hotel worth a visit for more than 24hrs in a city that is alive and well even if full of cycle whose patience with tourists distracted by the visual feast that is Amsterdam
Great hotel in city center, all is accessible by feet. Room on canal view is superb, you feel part of the city. Quiet room, very well decorated. Shower room is large enough, some amenities will have been appreciated and coffee Nespresso too. Not so much place to organise your stuff. The bedding is very very soft, confortable, clean, but really soft, not our taste at all. Breakfast or diner are tasty, very convenient to stay in after long day walk.
