I was actually looking for the other building of cafe Sacher (turned out to be right next door) but since I was already inside I sat down anyways. It was very empty when I went, mainly because it was midday on a Tuesday which was very nice. I went primarily to try the Sacher cake… and to my disappointment it was just okay. The cake was dry and the whipped cream ratio wasn’t enough to make up for it. I actually don’t know what all the hype was for. Not to mention it was very expensive- I paid $11 for one cake (which I didn’t even enjoy very much), so take that for what you will. I say go to the other Sacher cafe location to enjoy the atmosphere and skip on the salon because you’ll have the same mid cake experience minus the nice interior design.
We came here on the recommendation of a friend who came with us to Vienna. The place is really beautifully decorated. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The desserts we tried weren't quite up to the restaurant's reputation, but they were all good.
Very nice salon, service ok although they forgot our cakes and it was hard to “catch” the waiter, we were trying to call his attention to ask for our cakes but no luck, we had to wait for him to notice it. The same for the bill, it took us a long time to “catch” someone to bring us the bill. We had tea and chocolate milkshake, the milikshake was really nice. In regards of the cake ok but I have eaten Sacher style cake in other places and I liked it much more. It is good but it’s not a special cake.
We were visiting from Australia and Germany. So excited that we were able to get in about 25 minutes wait. Staff super friendly and helpful. No huge rush. We decided to get 2 sacher torte and one apple strudel all with cream and a lovely coffee double shot with cream as well. Very delicious. The strudel was warmed up too. All came with a glass of water too. Highly recommended.
Nice place to have a coffee-break when in the 1st district. We had a Viennese coffee, very good Sacher cake and beer. Service was great. Nice decorated. Sunny and not crowded on a Saturday (!) all the queues were 20m away, where the original Sacher Hotel is :)
