A bar that doesn’t look like much, but I was welcomed so warmly by Théo that it completely changed the end of my evening. It’s simple, it’s efficient, there’s a great atmosphere — I highly recommend it.
Bar Lukas welcomes you in with a strong, enigmatic scent. A pungent mix of life well-lived and boys hockey team changing room. The sitting arrangement is a beautiful continuation to the rest of the scenery, offering an extensive range of mysterious dark and/or sticky stains we felt were very Bob Dylan in “a Complete Unknown”. The aperol spritz delighted us with chique, long, thin glasses, yet after the first couple rounds we proceeded with a couple thousand beers as we felt they better complement the overall aesthetics of our little bar rendezvous. The deeper inside you enter the stronger the cocktail of peculiar aroma becomes and by the bathroom it has already opiated you like a shot of absinth. The ladies powder room was as if by far the cleanest, least malodorous space in the entire establishment even though its exterior might’ve looked deceiving. We will definitely return once more, Bar Lukas never change!
The story is the following. Me, my gf and two other friends went to this place some time ago after the concert being in a very good mood. It was a bit after midnight. We said "Hi, how are you" to bartender. The man is a fat guy who speaks french and has moustache. He said strangely loudly "OK WHAT YOU WANT". Next, we ordered 2 beers, wine and something else. We were sitting at the bar and saw all the "performance". Bar guy was drinking shots a lot, he was very loud and rude. Also, he was rolling his eyes when people were asking something RELATED TO THEIR ORDERS!!! He was rude all the time! We did not like it at all and tried to drink up and go. It was my turn to pay and I asked for the bill. He said he wanted it to be paid by cash, but I said the order is more than limit to pay by card and I wanted to pay by card. Then... he asked "how much do you want back?". Wait...What??? If I pay by card let me pay then I decide about the tips. It was the first time that happened... we were all confused. Then I paid by card with ZERO tips, cause I do not want to pay for this service. Man, there is something wrong with you, not with this place, though I do not want to come back there anymore.
I love the french bar tender he is so much fun and very nice. Seems like he is misunderstood based on the other reviews. Also the owners are really friendly. All in all a great place to go in the city centre of Vienna!
Good drinks, but the french very rude bartender was extremely unpleasant and unfriendly. He was yelling at most of people. Also he directly asks for the tips. It ruined the atmosphere for us.
