I love this bakery chain but this particular shop is subpar. The bar table is way too high compared to the height of the chairs so eating is quite uncomfortable, and they don't have other chairs or tables. There is very little space to move around and while I was there, there was a lot of shouting from the staff in the background. They also don't have the option to pay with card. The coffee was excellent and the cake was good but the ambience and service is more than lackluster. I would opt for a different shop if you're looking to try out Groissböck.
Second stop on our food tour in Vienna was Groissböck. It’s in Vienna’s 10th district and is a hidden gem for pastry lovers. This charming, small shop is so inviting and the staff were so sweet and friendly. The selection is immense, featuring a variety of traditional Austrian pastries, but the standout for me was the poppyseed pastry. Who has been keeping this secret from me? The pastry was perfectly flaky on the outside and generously filled with rich poppyseed goodness on the inside. It was the kind of treat that reminds you why small, local bakeries are so special.
We were 3 adults with a toddler and a baby, tried some pastries and ate a classic breakfast with coffee. Pros : the variety of pastries was very nice and they were pretty and tasty (not amazing but nice) Location is superb a second from the metro Cons: They do not accept card and this is not written anywhere They do not have a translated menu They do not speak English or Russian only German It is very child unfriendly, the place is for smokers, there are no tables inside to sit as a family and outside the place is in smoke... Not terrible experience but not as good as the reviews I reas before. Was disappointed
Always good for a traditional Vienna Breakfast...Cafe Latte, Hot Chocolate. Pastry, fresh rolls...never disappoints
An apetizing collection of baked goods sweets, chocolates would usually net this type of shop a 5-star rating, the quick, attentive service making up for the prices, high even for a shop in a pedestrian zone. I do though have to deduct 2 stars for: 1) it's cash-only, which is no longer the cute quirky deal, but a real bother for those dropping in for quick coffee. 2) and speaking of coffee: a diminutive latte for €3.70, when next door you can find a 3x larger, and tastier Grande Latte borders on highway robbery.
