Long-standing venue for Viennese cuisine, with famous historic links including to Freud & Trotsky....
We came at 9am on Sunday and no need to queue. The environment is really gorgeous and luxurious. The food is on average, not special, not too bad. I ordered scambled eggs with salmon, the eggs are not soft and creamy (a bit overcooked I guess) but i think it has rich egg flavour. I have ordered the sacher torte and apple strudel also. The apple strudel taste better than another cafe in Vienna , full of alcohol scent, the sweetness is just fine. Sacher torte is too sweet for me, and not silky. The coffee is inferior than the food. It is quite expensive but it’s okay to go and have a try.👌🏻
Worth the wait. We waited about 40 min to get in. No reservations available but we took our chance on getting a walk in. It is worth waiting in line to see the beautiful old cafe with so much history. The sweets all look so beautiful which makes it hard to decide. We had soup first. Vegan potato. It was average. I decide on the apple strudel because it was traditional. It was just ok. I should have had a cake. My friend had the lemon curd tart which was amazing. My latte was just average. I expected better. All in all it was a good experience.
If you’d like to try desserts just go for trio of petite fours. That is by far the best-tasting and freshest one. After I tried the petite fours and being pressed, I also ordered the sachertorte, but it was unfortunately dry, and the chocolate tasted a little cheap. I also got the Viennese Melange to drink and the foam was lovely. In terms of atmosphere, it doesn’t get any more Viennese café than this. The history of this place speaks for itself.
This was our first visit to Café Central. We hadn’t made a reservation, as it was showing fully booked, but we decided to try our luck and arrived in the morning shortly after 9:30 a.m. After waiting only about five minutes, we were seated at a lovely table with an excellent view. The food was good, but the service was truly outstanding. Our waiter behaved as you would expect in a top-class restaurant - professional, attentive, and welcoming. We were seated comfortably and guided through the ordering process in a way that made the whole experience feel special and effortless. We really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. One of the best surprises was the pricing, which is very reasonable considering this historic café’s prime location in a major tourist area. Their pricing policy is excellent. Definitely a must-visit place when you are in Vienna.
I visited Vienna and I went to Cafe Central as part of the list of cafés I had on my list that hold tradicion in Vienna. There was a decent long line outside but I was aware of it as I read it is a busy place. However, staff seem to manage well to get people seated quickly. Once seated, I ordered a beef soup that was okay, and then I ordered dessert and a coffee. The cake was delicious, fresh and the coffee with orage liquor very warming for the -15C outside. The building itsrlf is classic and ellegant and very notable the live piano moment they have. Overall, I café with a lot of history to stop and grab a dessert.
