No, I would not recommend this salon to men or women with thick/curly hair. My partner and I have been coming to this salon periodically over two years because it is in close proximity, and I have gone to a salon previously that uses Kevin Murphy products and I trust this brand. However each time I go there, I am less and less satisfied with the cut, styling and service. We have both seen Isabelle and every time, my partner’s usually beautiful curls are slicked back like a helmet, only to disguise a poor cut. I have had Isabelle and another young woman cut my hair and this is the last time either of us goes back. My hair is very thick with slight waves, but it really needs to be cut often to manage how unruly it becomes. With a good cut, this kind of hair type can be made more manageable after its given some shape. However, at this salon, I am treated like an anomaly: the stylist tells me she is incapable of carrying out my request because my hair is too voluminous, and any cut will make it worse. I then ask her to suggest a cut she thinks would suit my needs and she offers no other alternatives. Really? I thought creativity would be a prerequisite for a hairstylist? In the end I leave with a 3cm TRIM of my ends but nothing more, because “there is nothing else that can be done”. Obviously there is a lack of finesse or experience here, because I have never had a problem with my hair being cut at professional salons- where I leave satisfied and am impressed with the cut weeks later. Also a big red flag- neither stylist is eager to show you the adjustments they have made to your hair. There is no pride or care in the work. The cut is a 3 minute “job” and you are made to feel like one. Soon after you are rushed out the door. Now I will need to pay an additional 50€ (including their 5€ arbitrary disinfection fee) to get my hair cut for the second time this month because the service was completely inadequate. If I had not paid beforehand I would have walked out.
