Café du Centre

Had the truffle pizza and a few beers. The pizza was very tasty; something I never thought I would say but almost TOO much truffle and seasoning! The beers were very welcome and at a very good price. The location is good, overlooking the Pompidou Centre. It’s just off the busiest streets, so you can sit outside but it’s not too busy. The waiter was attentive enough but he was chain-smoking and didn’t crack a smile, he didn’t seem happy!

Great bistro for a quick espresso or snack in front of the Pompidou Centre. There is a WC downstairs. It is possible to have a 15% common understanding in English language with waitresses. Which is A LOT. French menu only. Google lens use is necessary. Egg mayonnaise snack was perfect 👌

Breakfast special was so satisfying we could not find another place in town that matched the quality and price for the neighborhood. We made sure to come back the day before we left. The oj alone was addicting, omelette was lovely, cafe olé was tasty and the croissants were so fresh and flacky. We found this place on accident and will be coming back on our next trip to Paris. As other said it may be understaffed but they came for lunch/dinner. We've only had breakfast in the AM and service was excellent.

Three stars only because we didn’t eat much of what we ordered (to no fault of theirs, and more-so the lack of understanding of the French language); allow me to elaborate... We started with escargot which was very good. Not the best we’ve had in France, but it was quite good. I ordered the Andouilette thinking this was similar to what American Andouille is. Let me save you a google search: Andouilette is intestines (pig or cattle). It was... not to my liking. Again, no fault of the restaurant; the waiter even was nice enough to ask if I was sure of my choice, to which I stubbornly said “yes”. The fries were good, though!

Good and quick service, and the food was ok, although I don't think the guacamole on my nachos had ever seen an avocado! (Wouldn't necessarily order those again, although they were mostly alright and I did make a special request for a smaller portion.) Watch when paying by card, as the bank they use on their card machine converts the currency automatically and charges you extra for the privilege (!) - pay with cash if you can.
