Don't go there! The waiter with the glasses and the mustache will make you feel like rubbish. Worst service in Madrid!! Skip that place.
The place is really nice but the male waiting staff is downright rude and offensive. It seems too much to take an order or deliver it in a halfway friendly style, when ordering the looks of contempt are not even disguised, and the answers to anything are one word syllables if you get an answer at all. They seem to make a real effort to make you feel as unwelcome as possible. The female waiting staff however are lovely, friendly and smiley and make up for their rude male colleagues.
Question. Is this cafe connected to the bar that was in C de Moratin? And the previous bar Begin the Beguine also in Moratin? They were my favourite bars in the world. This interior looks familiar to me. I remember the Jefe wore a hat, smoked, played chess and made a great Caprinha! Happy days approx 18 years ago.
Eat at this location twice during a stay in Madrid during Semana Santa week. Great service and food at a reasonable price. All members of the staff that we dealt with were very professional and friendly and took the time to answer questions concerning the menu. All the Mexican dishes we had were very good and like I said, we came back for a second time within a week.
I had an orange juice and a delicious quinoa salad for 12.5 euro. The service was a bit disinterested but fast and made up by the wonderful jazzy interior and old-style music playing. Cozy but definitely more of a bar.
