The place is in the touristic center and is always packed. I found the churros very greasy. I have had better churros in Madrid in more subdued places. They have a "mass production" style for pouring the chocolate into cups and let the cups of chocolate sit for the next customer. My chocolate had formed a rubber like layer atop as a result of the chocolate cooling. The ambiance is crowded and roudy with trays of dirty dishes on the tables waiting to be removed and tables cleaned.
the churros themselves are not sweet and quite oily, making it hard to eat the whole portion. the chocolate is also quite dark and there is no option for milk/white chocolate instead. it does not compliment the churros and makes them taste only worse. really disappointing experience
They weren’t the best churros I’ve had. The main issue was that they had quite a strong oily taste, which made them feel a bit heavy. As for the chocolate, it wasn’t terrible, but it didn’t really stand out or complement the churros the way I would have liked.
Chose this place because it has a decent space for you to sit in and enjoy the churros. You would have thought that the hot chocolate dipping sauce is super sweet, but it is not at all..! The churros are served hot and crispy. Definitely worth trying this signature spanish snack.
We went upstairs to the restaurant and had the menu of the day. Food was good I had the seafood paella this wasn't the best and wouldn't order again the prawns were overcooked. The beef was good! For €14 you get a starter, main, dessert, bottle of wine (if 2 people) and coffee - so it's extremely good value! Service was fine - most people there don't speak English so it was fun trying to order
