Welcoming coffeehouse with handcrafted coffee, espresso & tea, plus breakfast, lunch & pastries....
I visited this Starbucks on New Year’s Day, and the experience was very disappointing. The staff was extremely rude and showed no concern for customer opinions or basic service. I ordered coffee along with pastries, but they didn’t provide any plates or spoons instead they gave us in a paper bag. When I later asked for them, there was no response for about 10 minutes. Eventually, a staff member came back and said all the plates were being washed, without any apology or effort to help. They also didn’t call out names when the coffee was ready, which added to the confusion. Overall, the store was not customer-friendly at all. The staff gave unwelcoming looks whenever I asked for assistance, especially one female staff member who seemed visibly annoyed every time a question was asked. This was a very poor experience, especially for a brand that is known for customer service. I would not recommend this location.
Unfortunately, the toilet in this branch is extremely dirty and smelly, and it is constantly being closed due to “maintenance issues.” Why has this problem not been resolved for months? When I asked the staff member today why the toilet has been out of order for so long, he simply said, “I told you the toilet is closed today,” without answering any of my questions. He then started talking to his colleague in a way that felt like he was mocking me. Another staff member thankfully tried to speak to me properly, but the behaviour of the first gentleman was really disrespectful. On another day, I told the same staff member that the inside was very stuffy and asked whether the ventilation was working. He didn’t even respond, he just gave a fake smile and then walked away to serve another customer. I also asked if they could at least keep the door open for five minutes to let some air in, as there was absolutely no ventilation. He just said, “We can’t keep it open,” and returned to his work. It is honestly very disappointing to see such a lack of care and hygiene in a Starbucks branch located right in the centre of Dublin. Perhaps this is exactly why Starbucks struggles to achieve the same level of success in Dublin compared to other countries after all, success doesn’t happen by accident; it requires effort.
I have a strong regard for majority of staff in this place, especially security guard Stefan, amazing staff, but there is one very hostile girl who is full time staff i’m sure and she is always there and i’ve never felt more unwelcome in a shop in my life, I haven’t a clue what that woman’s issue is but she either needs to be sorted or sacked but giving cutstomers dirty looks and making orders wrong on purpose is so unprofessional and just disgusting. Ruins my whole day when I go in every week for a coffee to have a chat with the other very pleasant staff and that woman is there. One bad apple tarnishing the whole shop
If you’re after a dependable, centrally-located coffee stop in Dublin where you know what to expect, this Starbucks on Westmoreland Street is a safe bet. It’s especially handy when you’re on the go or need somewhere comfortable for a short time. If, however, you’re looking for something quieter, more locally-distinctive, or with more character, you might explore a nearby independent café instead.
Nice little place. Alright atmosphere, food is typical for Starbucks. Nice upstairs area with a view down below and some couches. Nice for a stop in but wouldn’t stay there long term
