Weekday mornings are the quietest
Went to try their herring and we had 2 different plates and a bottle of white wine. We sat down while it was bright and within 30 minutes it was completely dark. Love the location because of this, as with their "greenhouse" design you feel that you are outside. Food was fine, somehow felt less passionate then during summer. For Tivoli, it's a fine place to eat, thinking of price/ taste/ mood.
I wanted to eat at Tivoli Gardens, and I wanted to try one of the Danish open-faced sandwiches. After researching, it seemed this place had gluten free bread so I headed there. My pickled herring sandwich on gluten free bread was excellent. The waiter even explained to me what to do with the tiny spoon of white stuff (lard, you're supposed to spread it on the warm bread). I also had wine and a bottle of water. Of course the prices are inflated because if the location but I thought it was worth it. The restaurant doesn't have a great view, but I liked the old-time vibe. It seems a good idea to come around 4:30 or 5 pm; I was seated immediately. At 5:30 they started to tell people they could only stay until 6 pm because at that time they start to serve dinner only.
There was no vegetarian alternative, completely unacceptable in 2025… Also there was one meal that sounded appetising, FOR 60 DOLLARS!!! So I had to order something else which was not very good, the peas were dry and tasteless. They almost only had pork, and I don’t like pig.
My husband and I enjoyed spending time in this restaurant. Tasty food, good portions. Professional personnel. But most of all we enjoyed the lake view with it’s big and beautiful ship. Everything around is green and full of flowers. (And another plus for me is smoking area in a walking distance)
The best genuine Danish experience you can get in Tivoli gardens. Try Tarteletter and Stegt Flæsk. The waiters are amazing. Our waiter today was 76 yrs old and a master of waiting 🥇
