Convivial restaurant/cafe with outside tables serving simple dishes since 1912, plus jazz on Sunday....
Really good pork, although one of the latest requests of the night, yet pretty good. Good beers, great crew. Downtown, really central. Good option for a central dinner.
The food was incredible, seems like a typical tavern in Copenhagen, nice atmosphere and the service was good. The Guinness beer it’s not like the original, I don’t like it too much.
Initially, they told us there was no availability, but once we mentioned we wouldn’t stay long, they found us a seat. While it could have been due to reservations, I would have expected them to plan the timing better and find a solution through open communication instead of taking the easy way out and turning guests away. For such a historic and pleasant venue, the staff felt quite inexperienced. Fortunately, the food was so excellent that we forgot that initial feeling and enjoyed our meal. The 'Shooting Star' was prepared with great care; every ingredient was high-quality and fresh, creating a perfect harmony on the plate and the palate. The 'Fried Pork' is the perfect companion for beer, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. The sauce and side dishes balanced the fried pork beautifully. We were also delighted that this dish came with refills, as you simply can't get enough of it!
Back in Copenhagen after visiting Sweden, I wandered through the central streets and ended up at the famous Axelborg Bodega. Known for its truly amazing crispy pork with an “eat as much as you can” offer... though I couldn’t manage that much 😂. Tried to book online but it was fully reserved, so I walked in hoping for luck. The place was packed, but a kind waitress found me a spot and warned the food might take 40 minutes. I didn’t mind, just happy to relax in the evening. The food was fantastic, especially the pork dishes. I also tried their Viking beer, but it wasn’t really my taste. 😅 Overall, a great spot to relax. Highly recommended if you love porky dishes! ✌️10/10. #axelborgbodega #copenhagen #denmark
This restaurant isn’t super big, but it’s cozy and seems really popular with the locals. I decided to give it a try and ordered the mussels. They were really tasty and came in a huge portion, definitely enough for two people to share. I also tried the roast pork, which was crispy pork belly. The flavor was on the salty side, and the skin was super crispy. I’ve honestly never had pork like this before. It was delicious, but a bit too fatty for me, so it got a little heavy after a while. And of course, you can’t come here without trying the draft beer. It was really good and went perfectly with the food. The staff were friendly and paid attention to customers, which made the whole experience even better. Prices are what you’d expect for Copenhagen, not cheap, but fair for the quality. Worth checking out if you’re nearby.
