The cakes are AMAZING: fresh, light, moist, not too sweet... - divine. The staff is always friendly and cheerful, even if they may have a bit limited English. We always manage to communicate and part with a smile. The tables are set in the main passage of the mall so it's not the nicest of ambiances but everything else more than makes up for it. In comparison to the overprices mediocrities peppered all over the touristy downtown areas, this is an absolute gem.

The DJC style cake slice is specifically crap. It costs 2200 HUF, which is expensive compared to more upscale pastry shops where the cake is at least edible (1900 HUF in most places). If they can't make it properly, they shouldn't be selling it.. I would add that the cake we got was noticeably old and must have been sitting on the counter for a long time. It gets three stars because their scones and cookies are delicious.

I often go to Récsei Center, where this pastry shop is located. I always pass by it, even though I saw that many people were sitting there, but I had never tried this place before because I thought there was no alternative option for those who are lactose/milk protein sensitive. However, my sister and I stopped by the other day because she really wanted to bake and to my surprise, they had vegan and paleo cakes too! 😍 I ended up choosing a vegan bounty slice, which was something like 1099 HUF. It was very, very delicious! I will definitely buy cakes here again, this was a super positive surprise for me. The prices are good, elsewhere a slice of some kind of cake costs at least 2000 HUF, which isn't even vegan or paleo, and my sister and I bought two cakes here for that much. It was absolutely worth it! 😊👍🏼
