A good spot for a quick coffee stop. It’s not the coziest place to spend a long time, but the staff are very friendly and there’s a nice selection of cakes. Next time, though, I’d go for a cappuccino with an extra espresso shot. the one I had was a bit too mild for my taste.
A Coffee Lover’s Dream: Five Elephants Berlin Five Elephants in Berlin is a must-visit for anyone who considers coffee a craft. The coffee itself is divine, prepared with professional precision that highlights the quality of their specialty beans. The baristas are laid-back and friendly, often taking a genuine interest in how your day is going or where you’ve traveled from. To complement your brew, their croissants are flaky and delicious, fitting perfectly with the stylish interior and curated music. A fantastic bonus is their loyalty program, which is a super addition for regular visitors. The overall vibe is welcoming and vibrant, though it’s worth noting that the space isn't intended for long laptop sessions or coworking. You come here specifically for the love of coffee and the perfect, social atmosphere. It is an essential stop for a high-quality caffeine fix in the heart of the city.
Finally, a Berlin coffee "legend" that actually lives up to the hype. We headed to Five Elephant Mitte specifically because their coffee has reached legendary status in Berlin. After being let down by a few other "hyped" spots, this one truly delivered. The espresso was perfectly prepared: flavorful and clean with no bitterness. It had a bright, mild acidity that made it feel fresh while still maintaining a full body. If you’re looking for high-quality specialty coffee in Berlin Mitte, this is the gold standard. Then there’s the cheesecake. I’d heard it was a cult classic, and even as someone who isn’t usually a cheesecake fan, this was delicious. At this location, they serve a round version that looks a bit more fancy. The base is firm but buttery, with a rich cream center and a distinct top layer. It’s much more complex and beautifully crafted than a traditional cheesecake. The staff were great. They were super friendly and quick to help us pick out a bag of coffee beans for home based on our brewing setup. A quick heads-up on the space: While it’s stylish and minimalist, it isn't really a "sit and linger for hours" type of cafe. There are no customer toilets and the seating isn't the most comfortable for long stays. It’s better suited for a high-end coffee break while exploring near Hackescher Markt. Definitely recommended for serious coffee lovers.
Very crowded and no toilets. Still I came in twice - cappuccinos were very underwhelming considering they cost 4,20€. Both times a very stretched split shot, which, in my opinion, is unacceptable for that price range. I could barely taste the espresso. Gave it the benefit of the doubt but after all decided not to come back.
Tiny but mighty! The coffee quality is top-tier, as expected from Five Elephant. Since there are only a few small tables, it works best as a to-go stop. A sweet little gem in the neighborhood. Love!
