insanely good, mexican flavours encased in an extremely buttery and crispy pastry dough. service was great as well!
Great artisanal Pastry / Dulce shop. Flat White is OK. But the cakes are excellente. And wow Sant Aniol has to be the best sparkling water I’ve ever had!
The café itself is very pleasant, clean, welcoming, and with a clear attention to detail in its design and atmosphere. However, when it comes to the cake we tried, the portion size was an issue. At €6, the slice was too small that it was difficult to properly appreciate the different layers and components. In practice, the base dominated the flavor, overshadowing all the other elements. Personally, I would prefer a larger portion at a higher price point (around €10) so that the other textures and flavors could truly be enjoyed.
[update] Reply to the owner: I acknowledge your detailed response, and I respect how you wanted to interpret and accept or not my comment. But it’s not clear to me why you had to trace back your booking system and disclose my full name here. —— This review is mainly for the postre al plato experience. I’ve been to 22:22 twice. The first time I had simple breakfast and I liked it. So when I saw that they do “postre al plato”, I booked it without second thought. But in the end I was quite disappointed. You need to pay a reservation fee when you book it and pay the rest after the meal. There is also wine pairing option. The whole marketing and the price gave me a wrong expectation that it would be a “fine-dining” vibe experience. But it was not there imo. First, the quantity is very little. I felt empty after finishing the whole thing, especially with the money I’ve spent. The worst part probably was that they kept forgetting to give us the wine — it was impossible to “pair”. You drank after you finished the dessert (all the plates have sorbet so you couldn’t wait for the wine either.) I do appreciate the creativity in the plates — but again, in my eye it doesn’t justify the price. I expected something more than just scoops from boxes and squash from bags.
It’s almost become a routine for me to go here when I’m in the area. They have so many interesting twists on the croissant, for example the one I have in the photo is one with a hazelnut crumble and a hazelnut reduction as filling. Delicious. They also have a guava croissant which I LOVE and even just writing about it right now , I can taste it. Super friendly staff. I always feel good just taking a moment sipping a flat white and doing a small break here. They also do a Sunday Mexican brunch that I haven’t tried yet but plan to soon!
