I stumbled into Ary’s Book Cafe because I loved the beautiful atmosphere and Latin vibes. The chicken crepe and juices were lovely. Inside was cool and air conditioned, and there is a stunning Balinese garden out the back. Dewi was lovely !
Ambiance is what you come for. Top tip, ask to sit in the back in garden. Great for a coffee and chill with a book. Food is mid, but good enough, location and tranquility carries this place. Second time coming here.
We originally stopped by just to grab a coffee after spotting the menu on the outdoor stand — but once we had a proper look, we couldn’t resist ordering a few light bites too. What really caught my attention was the concept of building your own crêpe with savoury ingredients instead of the usual sweet options. Such a cool twist and honestly so interesting to try. Special mention to Yanti — she was incredibly attentive, caring, and professional throughout. Service like that genuinely makes the whole experience better.
I’ve passed by this place so many times, thinking it was just a tiny cafe with books. How wonderful that I finally decided to step inside! Beyond the front seating area lies a stunning garden with a pond and one of the most beautiful altars I’ve ever seen, guarded by tigers and a sphinx. There’s a large gazebo, comfortable cushions, and seating scattered throughout the garden. It is truly a piece of paradise right in the heart of Ubud—you feel like you’re deep in nature despite being in the center of town. As for the food, it’s a classic cafe style—simple utensils and straightforward flavors. The menu is quite extensive. I tried the 'build-your-own' crepe with mushrooms and cheddar. The portion was huge and very filling, but I was a bit disappointed that a processed cheese slice was used instead of real cheddar. The mushrooms were good, and I’m glad I didn't order sauce inside as it was already quite rich. It came with a garlic-mayo sauce on the side, which wasn't really to my taste; I think sour cream or yogurt would pair much better with mushrooms. I also tried the mushroom pasta—the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, the cheese was tasty, and the sauce was nice. Simple but good. The salad was a surprise highlight! Despite its simplicity (greens and arugula), the dressing was lovely, and the cherry tomatoes were incredibly juicy and flavorful. I also ordered a Jamu, which was served with ice—I wish they had asked first, but I didn't let it spoil the moment as I just wanted to enjoy the atmosphere. Overall, it’s a great find. It’s clean, well-maintained, and has its own authentic style. It’s not 'fine dining,' but it’s a perfect spot to work, meet friends, or just escape the hustle and bustle in the garden. I will definitely be back for coffee and the amazing vibes!
The restaurant's backyard is beautiful and spacious. However, we weren't entirely satisfied with the service and food. The quinoa tricolor salad was delicious, but the portion was so small it felt like a side dish. After eating it I was still hungry. We ordered also crepes and requested mushrooms inside but mushrooms were forgotten.
