The hospitality here did not feel forced or fake. The waitress was bold enough to suggest us to stop eating and get up from the table to see the moonrise from their balcony. I liked it here. Good food, good vibes.
The Athens Gate Rooftop Restaurant From the moment you step onto the 8th floor, the "wow" factor is immediate. The restaurant famously boasts one of the best rooftop views in the world, offering a panoramic sweep that includes the Acropolis, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the sprawling city skyline. Why You’ll Love It: The Unbeatable View: Watching the sunset behind the Parthenon while the Temple of Zeus glows below is a core memory in the making. Standout Greek Cuisine: The menu masterfully balances tradition with modern flair. Must-try dishes include the 24-hour roasted lamb, the perfectly executed shrimp pasta, and their unique rendition of moussaka. Exceptional Service: Guests frequently praise staff members like Evita and Marios for being warm, professional, and attentive, ensuring the vibe remains upscale yet welcoming. The "Secret" Drink Menu: Don't miss out on their signature cocktails, like the refreshing Greek Manhattan or a summer sangria, paired with a curated selection of fine Greek wines. Atmosphere for Every Occasion: Whether it’s a romantic date under the stars or a restful lunch above the city bustle, the elegant and cozy setting fits perfectly. Pro-Tips for Your Visit: Book Ahead: This is a popular spot; aim for a reservation at least 40 minutes before sunset to see the city transition from golden hour to a sea of lights. Request a Table: When booking, specifically ask for a view of the Parthenon to secure the most iconic backdrop for your meal. Explore the Terrace: Even if you dine inside, the staff encourages you to step onto the outdoor terrace to capture that perfect panoramic shot
The views are spectacular and this is an amazing spot for sunset as you have a different perspective from other parts of the area, at least for us it was a slightly different angle. The food is absolutely exquisite and everything was very good. Which is unfortunate because the service was so bad. It probably took about 40-45 minutes from sitting down to getting drinks on the table which then our food arrived about the same time as drinks and then took a lifetime before our server would be available to come by for even water at that point. All in all a good spot if you set your expectations that service will be underwhelming but food and views exceptional.
If you are visiting the restaurant for the view of The Acropolis you will be happy. You could come for appetizers and cocktails or dinner. We chose to have dinner. The menu is diverse and offers a variety of choices that should satisfy all customers. We chose to start with a bottle of wine and the Bottarga from Messolonghi starter. It was a Cretan cheese with olive oil, lemon, and diced nori seaweed. Served with fennel and focaccia bread. The wine was a Greek wine, Sauvignon Blanc from Karypidis Estate. For our entrees, we had the Shrimp Pasta and the Pork Belly and Scallops. Both were simple presentations of dishes executed perfectly. Service was good, but we think our waiter was still training. He missed a few things but was very friendly. Even if you eat inside, many guests stepped outside by other tables to take pictures. Everyone wants to get the perfect shot.
Unfortunately I can’t give good review as staff didn’t do their best to accommodate my special occasion. I contacted restaurant 2-3 weeks prior to inform about my fiance b day and us looking forward to celebrate it in this restaurant. We came, at first that had hard time finding our reservation and as I saw my surname I saw next to it cake note… we had dinner, no one brought the cake and I specifically asked for it during my reservation. Food was good, pasta a bit dry, he had pork belly with scallops, he loved it. It s a nice view, we ordered one bread- we were charged 2?! Also we waited a lotttt to get the bill… no happy B day, no cake.. honestly I am very disappointed and I wish I chose another place for this occasion.
