I have heard good things about Nolita but my experience did not reflect that. We waited an hour for our food, which was bland and disappointing. The avacado toast barely had avacado, and was 90% greens. However, the coffee was very good. Perhaps the cafe is understaffed as we struggled to contact our waiter to order, and get the check.
We came to Nolita Coffee and Brunch in Madrid hoping for a nice breakfast, but the experience was completely ruined by the staff’s rude and unprofessional behavior. From the moment we walked in, no one even greeted us. When we asked for a table for two, the waiter told us we could only sit at a 2-seater. We politely asked if we could sit at the nearby 4-seater for comfort, and he flat-out refused even though other guests later sat at larger tables without any issue. His tone was dismissive, condescending, and unfriendly. Things only got worse. When my husband asked whether the eggs were cooked with bacon (important for dietary reasons), the waiter spoke sharply and sarcastically. Later, when I ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict and carefully clarified “no ham,” he responded rudely, saying something like, “You’re ordering salmon, not ham, so why are you saying ham?” His tone was impatient, dismissive, and made it clear he had no interest in being helpful. At no point were we treated politely. it felt biased, disrespectful, and frankly, discriminatory. The food was average, nothing special and it’s not worth the rude, dismissive service. Social media reviews may make it look appealing, but the staff behavior completely ruined our morning. We will not be returning and strongly caution others: the service is shocking and unprofessional.
This was my second time brunching at this specific location of Nolita and I dare say it shall be my last. The first time was such a good experience, until I found a rotten blueberry on my french toast, at which point the staff removed my half eaten dish and still charged me for it but offered me a free drink, as if that'd help. The second time was today and... Absolutely no bueno. We basically had to beg the waiter, a bored and very sleepy looking guy (at 12:30, mind you), to take our order. We then proceeded to wait 45 minutes for our plates to arrive and to say that we were so underwhelmed is an understatement. The bagels looked small and anemic, you could count the sweet potato chips on one hand and my delicious cochinita pibil brioche was basically have the size of the ones I've had already. Such a disappointing experience, made worse by the fact that there was no line of people waiting to get in, as there usually is, so they had no reason to take as long as they did to make our food, throwing our whole day off (we got there at 12:50, didn't get our food till 13:45 which is absurd).
Great brunch — amazing coffee, matcha, and food! Staff was so friendly! I almost finished the delicious focaccia nolita before I remembered to take a photo! Pet-friendly too!
Great brunch place to start a Saturday. There tends to be a long wait to get a table, around 30 to 45 minutes. The coffee and orange juice were very good, and the food fresh and delicious. The pancakes are a must. We will come back to try the monster french toast and benedict eggs!
