Weekday mornings are the quietest
We came from Italy to explore Vienna and we stayed in a B&B near the Café Frida. One of my Austrian friends recommended me to go there, so I did, and that was probably one of the best breakfasts we ever had. Everything was good, flavors and ingredients were perfectly balanced (some of the best pancakes I have ever had), and the staff was very friendly. The location is small but cozy and warm. We felt obliged to give a tip on our last breakfast today. Next time I visit my friends in Vienna, I'm definitely going to find a nearby place where to stay, just to be able to have breakfast here again :) p.s. My regards to the kind Italian waitress, who I didn't get a chance to say thanks to before we left. Grazie mille! Alla prossima!
Café Frida is a good pick if you’re after a casual, laid-back brunch or lunch in Vienna with a creative, veggie-friendly menu and a friendly, artsy vibe. It’s especially nice on a sunny day when you can sit in the garden/terrace on Yppenplatz. If you go expecting a busy, vibrant café (especially evenings or weekends), you’ll likely enjoy the energy. If instead you’re after a tranquil, quiet meal — perhaps avoid the peak times to escape crowd and noise.
A wonderful place, whether outside or inside, it is very cosy and the food is just great! Especially the vegan and vegetarian burgers, burritos or salads are worth mentioning. The drinks like light and dark beer as well as wines are also very good.
We had a reservation for 4 at a table right next to the door. Asking whether any other table would be available was blocked in an impolite manner. A few minutes later, the waitress offered us some blankets though. The food looked great. My vegetarian omelette (spinach/feta) could use a bit more spice. The creams were delicious. Other than in the beginning service was friendly and timely, although the water was not refilled. We were asked to pay cash instead of our chosen payment option (visa). All in all, I would summarize it as a good food and coffee option, but medium service.
We went there together with two friends for Sunday breakfast. We have reserved a table for four, on arrival saw that it is directly next to the door so since it was cold, we asked if they might also have another table. The waitress was not really happy about the question and let us feel it. The food was not extremely neatly prepared, however it was tasting quite good the cappuccino was well prepared, with beautiful latte art and perfectly brewed. Due to the proximity to the door the atmosphere could have been better (smokers would leave the cafe for a smoke and go in and out behind oneself). In the end we wanted to pay by card and the waitress asked if we don't have cash🙄 So combined, we left with mixed feelings, if it wouldn't have been for the questionable service experience I would have recommended the place but with how it turned out, despite the good food and coffee it's just ok. Too bad :(
