Graceful 1888 salon serving specialties such as cream cakes, scones & strudels, with shady terrace....
Didn’t have to queue to sit outside. The pancake is amazing. Taste like mixture of bread pudding and French toast, but better. The shop inside has a good range of product. And cute tote bag too
I tried the Einspänner, the traditional Viennese coffee, and it was really good, rich and classic in flavor. However, the cheesecake and another cake (I’m not sure of its name) weren’t that impressive. Maybe I didn’t pick the best cakes for my first visit! On the other hand, the interior decor is amazing and the staff are incredibly friendly and professional. It truly feels like stepping back in time. A lovely experience overall, and I’ll definitely be back to try more cakes!
Lives up to the hype! From finger licking croissants to indulgent pastries, Demel has it all. Their Einspanner is the best coffee I’ve ever had. While the Sachertorte was decent, their house special Annatorte was the gamechanger. Every staff member is super polite and you really feel that they are elated to have you there. A MUST GO if you are in Vienna.
The Demel Kaiserschmarrn was absolutely stunning, served with plum jam and they were perfectly matched!!! However I don't like the cheesecake, it was dry and not good at all. One more plus point is the space, the restaurant decorated them so beautiful during Christmas. I took a lot of great pictures and enjoyed my time there.
We ordered the Anna Demel Coffee (a special blend with orange liqueur and cream), the Anna Demel Cake—one of the café’s legendary pastries—Kaiserschmarrn (the famous “shredded pancake” dessert), and an Einspänner (strong coffee topped with cream). I found the liqueur coffee too bitter and didn’t like it. The Kaiserschmarrn, however, was absolutely amazing! It might be the best dessert I’ve had in Europe :) Definitely a must-try. The chocolate cake was also good for those who enjoy it. They give priority to families with children and take you ahead in the queue, bringing you upstairs via a back elevator. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. We were very satisfied.
