We don't have any Irish-themed pubs where I come from. This was a breath of fresh air when we visited Vienna. Place is packed with life and traditional Viennese dishes. The beer selection is huge, and great. Unlike many other places that we've also been, it's also well priced. Would visit again if I were to come to Austria again.
The only thing reminiscent of a classic Irish pub is the selection of beer and whisky, where Guinness and Kilkenny join Ottakringer Rotes Zwickl and Jameson and Tullamore Dew are served. Darts is also an important feature of this pub. The food on offer is typical Viennese cuisine, tasty and reasonably priced. The drinks and service are also good. All in all, it's a pleasant mix of modern tavern and pub elements.
My wife and I came to Vienna for the weekend. Before we went to the place where we were staying, we spotted this place and it already won us over aesthetically. We went to check in and freshen up and, after reading the other reviews, mostly positive, we decided to give this place a chance... and our verdict is: wonderful. The place is nice, clean, welcoming, quiet. The manager, David, is friendly and helpful, above all he has a quick intuition and our conversation took place in three languages: German, English, Italian. The beers are excellent, the food is exceptional, if I could I would give ten stars. Not recommended, highly recommended!
Here they have delicious food, especially the schnitzel and their wonderful goulasch soup. They provide excellent, friendly, service with absolutely great prices. They also have outdoor seating, where you can enjoy a refreshing cold beer if you so desire; and they've been doing this all consistently for a very long time. It is definitely one of my most favorite places to eat in all of Vienna for an authentic Austrian meal. You must visit.
What can I say? The only thing "Irish" about this bar was the Guinness sign on one of the walls. This is an Austrian darts bar (rather small one too) Nothing Irish about it at all. I would not recommend it for families. The bar was rammed with darts players and the only woman was my wife. I feel these kind of back street bars use the word "Irish" to get more custom. Oh and the prices are not what I'd expect to pay in a place like this.
