Weekday mornings are the quietest
The service was excellent, the food could have been tastier, the Viennese schnitzel (28 euros) was a bit dry, the potato salad was good.
The waiters hanged us for a full 15mins even during idling when we wanted to place the order. Absolutely a waste of time
I thoroughly enjoyed eating here and spending a couple hours at the start of my mornings at this café. The atmosphere had quite a lush yet relaxing feel. (Be sure not to confuse this place with another cafe of the same name elsewhere in the city.) The environment lends itself to Vienna's coffee culture reputation: the "rude" waiters did not mind at all that I had taken out my personal book and magazine to sit and read during my meal and while slowly drinking my coffee afterwards. They seemed to rather expect that as I saw at least two other tables also enjoying their time in long conversations for a few hours. The waitstaff do not rush you at all no matter how long you've been at your table. The desserts are DELICIOUS. One of my waiters recommended a torte of both chocolate and blueberries as I asked him to surprise me. I also recommend the torte of banana and chocolate, and their dessert menu rotates regularly and until they've all run out throughout the day, if I'm not mistaken. A charming place with nice outdoor seating that easily leads to shopping and walkable streets afterwards.
First, we liked the atmosphere inside and decided to have dinner. But the servhce was terrible. The waiter clearly didn't care and didn't try to hide it. The wine we ordered was not available. And it is ok, if he came, apologize and offer a replacement. I stead he just poured other wine and put it on the table with an attitude "drink this one and shut up", I tried to ask a question what was this wine, he said " I don't know, if you don't like it I'll bring another one". And it's ok for me if he doesn't know, but the service I expect when the staff doesn't know is to apologise and find out. This waiter didn't have any respect to my question, any warmth of the service. He has never come back to find out if we liked the wine we have never chosen to drink. The food order was confused as well. We have chosen French fries with our meal. They brought potato salad. We asked to replacement. It was way loong wait until we had to remind. Finally the French fries have arrived when the schnitzel was already cold. At checking out we found an extra portion of French fries in our invoice, but the meal has included French fries. Some other little things were also charged extra, like sauces. They are not on the menu, and their prices are not clear when you order a food. When we piunted that we haven't ordered an extra portion of French fries the waiter was very annoyed, didn't apologise and started calling me "my love" what I find extremely hobnob. Overalls, I wish someone reads it explains the staff the basics of the service (I am not sure about other people working there but waiter which was older than others last night provided quite bad service). I am fine with mistakes, but at least apologise and be nice if you have made them, try to be helpful and warm, not rude. The food was okay, but not great.
No greeting whatsoever, so I just sat down at the nearest table. The waiters ignored me for a full five minutes. In other words, a classic Viennese traditional café experience. The restroom was in a sad condition, no soup….
