A warm and pleasant atmosphere. They had a very friendly and kind waiter (sorry I don’t know his name). I experienced a great wiener melange and sachertorte ❤️ It is a local and quiet place, I recommend it ⭐️
Had a delicious lunch at this cafe. We had 2 beef stew and a ham and cheese toasty. Service was wonderful and the waiters were very kind and spoke English well. Only wish I had room left to eat a dessert…..next time.
Most fun I had in Vienna. To be honest I had only made it a day trip so no real night life party, just day drinking, and it was January. Anyways, this place is cool. Busy and the service is up front, don’t expect to be coddled like a spoiled westerner and you will have great time. I recommend the Louis XIV coffee and a couple for beers.
An incredibly local-feeling café with a very unique vibe. It’s an old, traditional place, with tables very close to each other, and it was extremely busy—even on a Saturday night. The prices are reasonable, and the service was excellent. The hot chocolate was delicious, and we also tried a dessert, which was fantastic as well. Overall, a very authentic and memorable Viennese café experience.
We visited Cafe Hawelka for coffee and pastry. The coffee and pastries themselves were quite nice, and the cafe itself is moody, dark and warm - a nice retreat from the city outside. Unfortunately the service we received left a lot to be desired. We were seated quickly (which was good), but then were treated with a general degree of hostility that appears to be reserved for non-German speakers. After being handed a menu, we were only informed by the waiter (with a great degree of contempt) that some items were unavailable after attempting to order them. Our coffees and pastries were almost dropped on the table upon delivery. Finally, to pay, after attempting to attract the waiter’s attention for the best part of 15 minutes, a card machine was thrust in our face including a 15% tip (despite the preceding hostile service). This is not the first review to mention the service for non-German speakers. If you’re visiting, don’t let it stop you - but it is something to keep in mind.
