Great dining environment with good food at a fairly reasonable price. The menu also has a good variety of both local Viennese and general breakfast items. Staff were good and got the job done in a professional manner, but the speed of service can get a little slow at times. It's not a mind blowing spot, but it definitely gets the job done!
We were advised to visit as it was close the where we stayed. The food was good, weirded both the traditional breakfast and something more, let's say, attractive and complicated. The coffees though were great. Really worth it. The service was attentive. The problem is that we were seated in a very tiny table that could not enjoy our breakfast. Also, the place needs some maintenance.
This place is really worth going to if and only if you have the right waiter serving you! We have had so many nice brunches here, but also some awful ones simply because we were served by the one waiter with the glasses who normally works in the room at the back. He made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome. From now on, if we see him we just avoid the cafe all together. The manager lady is really lovely though and we particularly love the waiter MJ who is exceptionally professional and attentive.
This is fantastic place, feel like your are at home. Best coffee in Vienna, maybe even better then in Italy. We stay in hotel near but we came here on breakfast for three days. Food is excellent and you have big choice. Staff are fantastic, lady owner hug us when we left last day. Try to book your table for breakfast.
Arrived for early breakfast on a weekday. Reserved a table. Host/Server sat me in the front dining room next to a pool table. Had the Kräftige rindsuppe (classic Viennese beef soup) with a french roll, soft boiled egg, & a cappucino. The soup was amazing! Server was super efficient as he tended to 15+ tables due to a chaotic morning crowd. He seemed annoyed at first of my questions, but gradually warmed up & became friendlier. They have fancy cakes at front glass case & i opted to try one. The Sacher torte & Apple strudel are the Viennese favourites, but I went with my instincts & tried the Esterházyschnitte (a traditional Hungarian cake). Glad that i chose this one. The staff kindly boxed it for take away. It was a wonderful treat! If you happen to be near the Belvedere Palace, stop by Café Goldegg. Do reserve in advance bc seating gets filled quickly.
