Café Europa Lager

I cannot imagine why this place has such bad reviews - it was amazing. The vegan portobello sandwich, complete with truffle mayo, was dreamy. I'm still thinking about it a week later! A cool vibe & plenty of outdoor seating in a vibrant neighborhood, it was packed and lively. I'd happily recommend this spot to tourists and locals alike.

Great experience overall at Café Europe. Nice atmosphere, friendly service, and good coffee. Everything was very enjoyable, but the chocolate croissant barely had any chocolate inside, which was a bit disappointing. Still a very good place and definitely worth a visit — just hoping for a more generous croissant next time.

So far the worst experience I have had in a café in Vienna. I ordered an Americano and received a latté instead. Upon telling the waitress I got the wrong order, she just asked me “why did you put the spoon in it?” (I did so to check if it was really a latte under the foam, or if the foam was maybe covering a dark coffee), and then looked at me as if it was my fault that my order was wrong. The café is called Europa, yet they have only 1 english menu. The waiters look at you in a condoscending way, as if you are something less, but maybe they just do that to tourists. Not once did they come to check on us or ask if everything was alright. The men’s bathrooms are kept in a sort of “punk” style - a little dirty and very, very smelly (men’s room more so than women’s). Upon paying, the waitress demanded a tip, explaining that it was a standard, even though the service definitely did not deserve one. Still, we were pressured into leaving at least 3 euros. The only saving grace of the entire experience was the tasty food and the cool interior design, but not enough to make up for the horrible service. I definitely do not recommend coming here unless you want mid food, bad service and a mandatory tip.

great burger and pumpkin mousse, definitely better than expected since it looked more like a pub for a drink rather than a dinner place. suggested especially because it was one of the few places open late at night (22:00)

I went there twice with friends, it is a nice place to get a drink. There is a lot of tables and the interior is nice. The prices are decent and the service is nice. However, the later into the night it gets, the louder they make the music. This makes it really hard to enjoy and talk with each other, we had to shout to be able to hear ourselves. This also makes no sense to me cause nobody dances for the music to be so loud. In terms of food, I tried the falafel and hummus and it was one of the best I’ve ever had so that I would recommend.
