Café am Heumarkt

Had a wine and cake, nothing special. Also this place is cash only, learned it the hard way. Had to leave my driving license as a deposit and hike around to find an atm at 10pm. Owners could have a sign outside saying that it is cash only like other cafes do.

Just wanted a coffee and like a sandwich since I wasn't too hungry. They made such a good basic grilled sandwich that I was amazed by the quality of the cheese and the meat, and maybe the best melange I've had in Vienna honestly. All this literally makes me wanna return here at some point for a proper meal in the future. It's a very old Vienna type of restaurant that has its charm and definitely more of a local spot. It's like they looked a bit suprised a tourist came here :), but everything was nice. The prices are very affordable.

Charming spot. We had the Fiakergulasch, the Cordon Bleu and the Kaiserschmarrn which were all delicious and generously portioned.

The coffee shop is pretty local, with vintage pool table and board games. The man in the shop is friendly and recommended to us the traditional dessert. The food looks simple but taste amazing. If you want to find some restaurant truly local and traditional Vienna style, don’t miss this one!

If you want to relive the old Vienna and its romantic coffee/restaurant places, this is a place to be. Still remains unchanged, un renovated with all original furniture untouched. You can enjoy coffee, wiener schnitzel (rather nicely done), or simply a glass of local wine. A special touch is the waiter who is on par with the interior.
