Today I had a meal at this place. To be fair, I had already been here before just for coffee and dessert, and that visit was great: the matcha latte was delicious and the carrot cake was absolutely exquisite. Unfortunately, today’s experience did not quite live up to that memory. When we arrived, we were seated in a very nice spot. Observing the overall dynamic, though, it felt like the place might be slightly understaffed. My chai latte, to start with, did not disappoint in terms of flavor, it was genuinely delicious. However, it arrived more lukewarm than hot. The hot chocolate was also very good, and that’s about all there is to say about the drinks. Now for the interesting part: the food. We ordered a British breakfast. I can confidently say the best part of the plate was the toas, truly delicious and nicely crispy. The sautéed mushrooms also added a pleasant touch. The egg and sausages were fairly unremarkable, nothing to write home about. What was genuinely unfortunate, however, were the beans. They tasted exactly like the cheapest canned beans you might pick up at a random potraviny. As for the other dish, Eggs Royal: the pancakes were probably the only redeeming element. They were fluffy, though somewhat bland. The mashed avocado didn’t taste fresh at all; it had a very generic flavor. The eggs, however, were quite disastrous. The whites were far too firm, when you order poached eggs, you expect something soft (not raw, of course), but delicate. Instead, the yolk was excessively runny in a rather unpleasant way. While a yolk should indeed flow, this one felt more like an unfortunate accident than a culinary intention. Quite possibly the worst poached egg I’ve had. The salmon was also surprisingly bland, barely recognizable as salmon, really, just a vaguely fish-flavored piece of something. And finally, the worst part of the dish: the attempt at a creamy sauce. It manages to deliver the most unpleasant finishing touch imaginable, soaking the entire plate. I had to remove most of it because it was overwhelmingly heavy, cloying, and frankly unappetizing. All it accomplishes is leaving you with a bad taste in your mouth and a very heavy stomach from something you didn’t even enjoy. It almost feels like an effort to compensate for the dish’s lack of flavor by drowning everything in a mayonnaise-like cream. In conclusion, I would absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking to have a pleasant time drinking COFFEE and enjoying DESSERT. If, however, you’re planning to come for breakfast or brunch, I’m afraid I cannot recommend repeating this particular experience.
It’s a beautiful spot with thoughtfully designed interiors that truly enhance the overall Prague experience. The place has a lively, energetic atmosphere and is usually quite busy, which adds to its charm. I had one of the best English breakfasts of my entire Europe trip here—fresh, flavorful, and very satisfying. The service was efficient and friendly, even with the crowd. A nice touch is the clear separation between tables for guests using laptops and those who aren’t, which makes the space comfortable for both working and relaxing. One particularly memorable detail was the washroom entrance—it’s cleverly disguised with a wardrobe-style door, which is quite unexpected and fun. Inside, the washroom continues the theme with heavy, antique-looking interiors that feel almost vintage and theatrical, adding to the overall character of the place. The only minor downside was that the coffee wasn’t as hot as I would have preferred, though I noticed this in many places across Europe, so it may just be the norm.
The Flat has a homely feel, despite being a busy breakfast spot, and the service was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We ordered the Eggs Benedict and the Eggs Royale, the Royale came with a generous portion of salmon and both dishes were very satisfying. The only part that wasn’t quite for me was the homemade pancake base; I prefer the usual English muffin for the crunch and contrast. Otherwise, a great breakfast experience.
My husband and I loved The Flat! It was close to our air b n b. Service was great everyone was so kind and we had THE best breakfasts in Prague! Thank y’all for having us! Love from Texas❤️ we hope to come back and visit again soon.
- It is always the interior and the vibe of places of Prague. We enjoyed our breakfast plates in such a cool place. - The people are helpful and they are English speakers. - When you get in the cafe, you are asked if you will use your laptop. If so, there are separate tables you can use your laptop. - The food is delicious. I highly recommend having your breakfast here with a delicious cup of coffee of your choice. - The flat white and the food in the first image costed 757 TL, that is approximately 372 CZK according to Google’s currency on 27th of November 2025. - The black tea is served in a pretty big pot and it could’ve been warmer. Since we are used to drink hot black tea in Turkey, we had expected it the same way. - It’s not noisy and the their taste of music is good. Beginning the day with Let It Happen was something. - The photos are from 14.11.2025.
