Excellent Stay at the Monastery Hotel Our stay at the Monastery Hotel was fantastic. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful, tucked away in the beautiful Strahov Monastery grounds, yet still close to everything—only a 10-minute walk to Prague Castle and a quick tram ride to the Old Town. The location is also perfect for food lovers, with good restaurants nearby like the Strahov Monastery Brewery and Restaurant Na Pekle just steps away. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a serene retreat in the heart of Prague! Being Canadian, don't talk about hockey 😆😆😆🥂
This is a lovely hotel. In the heart of old town the location is excellent. Easy walking distance of all major sights such as the astronomical clock, Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, the military museum and so on. We walked everywhere. Also near lots of restaurants and bars. The reception staff (two ladies whose name I do not have one dark haired and one blond haired) were excellent. Helping with booking some trips (I recommend the dinner cruise and also the hop on off bus). There was a mini bottle of prosecco on arrival which was lovely as this was a birthday trip. But when I mentioned a few days later the dinner cruise was for my actual birthday another bottle of prosecco was out in our room. How lovely! We had a nice view of the church from our room. The room was great, so quiet and peaceful and comfy. Remember it was a monestary so high ceilings, low ceilings, lots of steps and curved ceilings, nooks and crannies to explore and a lovely courtyard garden (too cold this time of year to sit out in!) Nice bathroom too. Oh and breakfast was great. So much choice I am sure I have put on many pounds in weight! Of I come to Prague again I would definitely stay here and will recommend it to family and friends. The bistro is shut until 15 March 2026 but if it's like the breakfast buffet then it will be a great option if you don't fancy going out in the evening.
I have been wanting to write this review for 2 months now. We 1st stayed here in 2012 before we were married and we returned back for the Christmas market opening. The hotel holds a special place in our hearts because we became engaged there on our first trip. We love that the hotel is a quick walk to the old square but far enough away to be a quiet place to sleep. The hotel staff made us feel welcomed and knew about our special reason for returning there. We had an upgraded room which gave us a place to sit and relax while in the room and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast buffet had more than enough choices to fill you up before going out to explore the city. We hope to return here in the future because there is still so much to see in the city.
Lovely and quiet stay in the best location we could think of. Not busy but right where you want to be. We also recommend the spa they offer, which was a very relaxing experience. My favourite part was the little courtyard which feels alive with nature and decoration.
The service was great. We had a drink in the garden and have a great time in a very coquette place. The place cannot be crowded because it has just the right amount of tables so, if you need to take a break from the busy Prague then this is a wonderful place.
