I must say I was a bit skeptical due to the 4.1 stars….BUT I learned not everybody let the recension. And I can still say, what a pleasant dinner. I ordered a cordon bleu, the best that I ate in my life (and I can say I eat a lot of it). The service was great and the restrooms really cleaned compared to others. Well recommended it!
Some addresses offer more than food; they anchor a rhythm. At Valois, just off Place Rio de Janeiro, the day begins early and closes without fuss, a rarity in a city of curated experiences. The terrace quietly observes the edges of Parc Monceau, where local rituals unfold without pretence. Men in wool coats read the paper. Women balance café crèmes and dogs on leads. Inside, light moves across varnished wood and limestone walls, catching the steel of a waiter’s tray or the navy cuff of a businessman’s jacket. It is neither grand nor nostalgic, simply honest. The kitchen operates with calm precision. Plates arrive with proportion, warmth, and a quiet logic. Nothing is overstated. Nothing shouts. The flavours feel restrained but not timid, deliberate without being rigid. There is an elegance to the timing, a humility to the composition. This is food that supports the moment rather than commands it. Service follows the codes of the quartier. Brisk, correct, never theatrical. Coffee is served at pace, and wine is poured without commentary. At peak hours, the staff maintain a Parisian rhythm: self-contained, slightly distant, and perfectly functional. For some, it may feel cool. For others, it is the absence of interruption. Valois is not a place one discovers. It is a place one returns to. A reliable morning pause, a table for unhurried thought, a discreet companion to the day’s beginnings and endings. It lives not in memory, but in repetition. Un coin de table qui n’a rien à prouver, et qui reste jour après jour.
After a slow and hidden search, we found here the best escargots, properly cooked, balanced sauce. The Château Fillet was perfect for me, and no concerns when my friend sent back for cooking a bit more, all with a smile. Which brings me to the best, Charles, the waiter, made us feel comfortable and we had an absolute great dinner.
Good food! Was able to try out the cordon bleu (in France!!!), Mac and cheese with ham, and also have beef tartare all during the same meal! Food was tasty and no complaints! Would recommend!
Very cozy and warm atmosphere. It was like being in a diner, nothing too fancy, just really relaxed. The wait staff were super friendly and patient with foreigners. The drinks and food came quickly and attention to details (free water was well appreciated). Our waitress was SUPER! She had good recommendations for drinks and was very attentive.
