Pastries, delicate tarts, colorful cakes & bread at an elaborately decorated bakery & tearoom....
Croissants from France is worth the hype. I honestly didn’t think it would be, but this place impressed me as my first stop. I didn’t know how buttery, flaky, and soft a croissant can be until I had a croissant here. It made me wonder why most croissants are not like this in the U.S. Note: watch out for the little step where the entrance is if you’re walking out because I witnessed someone fall.
100% worth visiting. the pastries are of the best quality and the place itself is a piece of art. grab sth and go to the nearest park to enjoy the food. i tried a baguette , Cappuccino and pain au chocolate and loved every bite. Also they speak perfect English
What I’m rating with this 5 star is the bakery. Not the tea salon. The owner of the bakery is a MOF, which means he won a very harsh competition to get his title. He has been 2nd to the best baguette of Paris in 2014. Now what you should take is any viennoiseries : croissant, pain au chocolat, chausson aux pommes, pain suisse. Or any small pastries : the best being the Tarte Tatin. The Paris Brest and the Mille feuille are terribly good. The quiche looked very good, juicy, generous last time I went. Some French cakes are baked to hard, you are not supposed to eat them like but with a tea or a coffee. You come to a bakery, please choose a vegetarian option that is not a cooked dish ( potatoes, lettuces etc ) . i.e take bread items : almost everything is vegetarian then. I’m annoyed sometimes to see the bakery trying to make vegetarian dishes to please everyone, this goes against the essence bakery : which is to bake. I have read the comments saying that they overcharge when you sit, and it is true ( thanks to Mc Donald ) because the taxes to sit or takeaway are different ( 5,5% vs 20%, btw McDonald only pays 5,5 %) Also, about the friendliness of the staff, things are made from scratch, which means you may have someone who has been here since 4 am for the bakers, 6 am for the staff. They may be tired as they don’t just come at 8am to empty a fridge or worst : a freezer. Again, that tarte Tatin you are not going to find everywhere, and it is so well made. My family is from Normandy, and the apples he chose are perfectly acid enough to balance the sugar. A marvel. The whipped heavy cream on the top is cuddling.
This stop was maybe the french place i visited in Paris. Good coffee and deserts. The interior send you back in time. We had great time here. This was my friend favorite place when he lived near by! Recommend!
During my first day exploring Paris this winter, I had the pleasure of starting my morning at this charming bakery. The experience was cozy and inviting, a perfect introduction to the city’s culinary delights. The coffee was rich and aromatic, a delightful companion to the flaky, buttery croissants, and the éclair was absolutely divine, striking the right balance of sweetness and texture. While the bakery itself offers a lovely experience for those nearby, I’d say it’s more of a local gem than a destination spot. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, it’s definitely worth stopping by. However, I wouldn’t recommend making a special trip from afar, as the essence of this bakery is best enjoyed as part of a broader exploration of the area’s offerings.
