La Vielleuse

We visited the place twice last week, the first time was great: we had 2 pints of beer and were charged the advertised price of€4 per pint. The next visit on Sunday evening we were charged €8 per pint, because the waiter told us the offer wasn’t valid on Sunday! We didn’t go there again!

evening menu: very dry, reheated farm chicken. Unfortunately, for dinner, the food is no longer fresh or tasty. The service is pleasant, the place is popular and very cheap. But the food leaves a lot to be desired.

I was staying nearby and wanted breakfast before catching my train back home. I opted for the full breakfast, of coffee, fresh juice, a croissant and a tartine. The waiter was friendly, but the breakfast disapointing. I was epecting a nice butter croissant, but got a tasteless non butter one. The tartine coffee and juice were fine.

DO NOT EAT HERE. We saw a crowd gathered outside this place and thought it might be a nice spot for a quick dinner while staying in Belleville. We were wrong. Staff was friendly and welcoming, but the food was atrocious. 17 euros for a hamburger sans bun, with some pieces of iceberg with ranch and a single slice of tomato as salad, alongside some bang average fries. Absolutely shocking for this price in Paris. Drinks were fine, if a little pricey. Servers were nice. Don't go here.

Upon our trip to Paris recently. Myself and partner visited La Vielleuse a couple of times for a morning coffee and an afternoon drink with some food. The staff are very friendly, eager to get you seated and make sure you have everything you need. We didn’t find ourselves waiting long to be served and when it came to getting the bill it didn’t take much time also. If you’re in the area of Belleville during a stay in Paris, I would highly recommend you visit this lovely place.
