Very nice place, simple menu, very French. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The French onion soup, and pasta dish we had were great.
During our time in Paris we visited 2-3 cafes per day. La Consigne, seemed quaint. We ordered wine, with a few specialty drinks as well and then ordered steaks. I ordered mine Medium, my wife Medium Well. The steaks arrived and the first thing we noticed was they both were not very warm at all. My initial bite was from the edge and was rare at best. Towards the centre the steak was not cooked at all. I donβt mind rare steak so I ate mine. Iβm not picky. It was not good. Tasted like a steak that had been frozen and unthawed. Probably why it was so undercooked on the inside. My wifeβs was completely rare as well. We asked the waiter to bring it back to be cooked some more. The steak arrived back in less than two minutes and was still raw. My wife at this point decided not to eat the steak at all. Which was fine we had other food items as well. Now this is where the story goes south. The waiter came back and asked about the steak. We politely explained the steak was still raw.( It was visible the steak was raw.) We did not make a big deal out of it. From this point on we were now ignored. The waiter no longer returned. I looked directly at the waiter several times and the bartender hinting for them to come over. Neither would come to our table at all. We finished our existing drinks and went to the bar to ask for our bill/tab. The steak was still on the bill. I would not recommend La Consigne. The food was terrible. The staff were horrible. The area we were sitting in was freezing. Other than the wine, which came from a bottle, the mixed drinks were also poorly made. We had a lot of great experiences in Paris, but unfortunately this one stood out and reiterated why so many think poorly of the French. Great job βLa Consigneβ proving them right.
A lovely place to drop in for a drink or something to eat. We really enjoyed our meal here and the house wine was lovely. Our server was brilliant, helpful and friendly despite it being a very busy Friday evening. The place was busy with groups of friends, couples and solo diners. A lovely atmosphere and nice music as well. Most of the diners were locals I suspect. We really enjoyed our evening here, highly recommended.
Great place to stop in for something to eat. The decor is inviting but not pretentious. We had the quiche which was very light and tasty while the sausage with aligot was very flavorful and cooked nicely. Recommend this for a good bite. Our cost was β¬45 for two.
This place is superb. What an amazing French cuisine experience. Had the goat cheese on toast with honey, steak, and frites and duck confit and was amazed with the amazing flavors. Had an Abbey Beer and St. Germain Spritzer was amazing. Great waiter was accommodating to us non French speaking tourists looking for a great meal, and we did. La Consigne is a gem in the Gare De Lyon in Paris. A must and recommendable place to eat and visit
