Chez charlette

A lovely step back to my childhood, when every Paris cafe felt like this. The decor with zany angled mirrors is very 60s, the neighbourhood clientele simply enjoying an aperitif is timeless. But the menu has moved with the times. I had egg mayonnaise - a classic. My main course was « wok poulet » chicken pieces cooked with fresh sliced vegetables and flavoured with soy sauce. That dish cast a nod to the influence of oriental cuisine in Paris and reminded me that it’s always a good idea to eat next to the vegetable market! I ate alone in an emptying cafe, I suspect lunch time is their main service, but the friendly service and neighbourly atmosphere made me feel quite at home.

The waiter refused to take our order for over 20 minutes. On top of that, we were charged €10 for a cappuccino, and he didn’t even provide a receipt, despite us asking for it. Instead, he just took the money and put it in his pocket. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior.

As a uk citizen visiting the Marche d Aligre just had cafe crème here 9 euros 20 for two cups , checked 4 other establishments nearby average price per cup 3 euros 10 I resent being treated in this contemptuous manner . I don’t mind what I pay but I do resent very much legal theft !! Avoid they are overcharging innocent tourists So sad as means would never returm

Another burger paradise! Fresh ingredients prepared as close to an authentic US burger as possible. Served with thin delicious fries. Also the cheesecake us scrumptuous. I'm from New York but I have lived here in France for 30 years. Never imagined to find US style cooked fare so far from home
