I stumbled upon Café Père Tanguy on a whim, and I’m glad I did. There’s a warmth to this place that’s hard to put into words — it just feels like a proper Parisian café, unpretentious and genuine. The service was a pleasant surprise. No long waits, no being forgotten in a corner — the staff are on the ball without making you feel rushed. In a city where café service can sometimes be an art form in patience, this was a breath of fresh air. Prices are reasonable and consistent with the neighborhood, so no nasty surprises when the bill arrives. That said, I’d steer you away from the desserts — they’re priced a notch too high for what actually lands on the table. It’s a shame, because a good dessert would have rounded off the experience perfectly. Minor sweet-tooth gripes aside, Café Père Tanguy is the kind of place you’re happy to return to. Good vibes, quick service, fair prices — just save your dessert budget for the patisserie down the road.
There a lot of people smoking in the balcony close to the restaurant. An area that is almost closed. As such the smoke just gets inside the restaurant. The waiter was ok, but the food was awful. The risoto did not had any salt or any thing else. The cordon blue was deep fried and without any flavor other than the cheese. Definitely it a place I’ll go again.
We went for dinner early so the place was quiet. The waitress was lovely and helped in English. food was very nice as well as the wine. The only reason for me to remove a star is that the area at the entrance e is a smoking area despite it being sort of indoors, which means we had to sit in the real indoor restaurant. Despite that. We could smell the cigarette smoke throughout dinner. This is not something I am used to and which I thought was quite bad for the personnel who have to passive smoke all day and evening during their shift. I guess this is allowed in Paris, unlike places like London, but not being used to this, I thought it was quite disturbing, especially because it leaves a smell on your clothes. But do not let that stop you from trying a meal there. It was really nice!
Merci Marie 😌 We had drinks the day before and the plates looked delicious - so we had Dinner the other night and loved the subtile and creative use of unusual flavors for well known dishes - we ordered medium rare and got medium rare - very professional & friendly staff incl. the manager Marie who was very attentive and always ready for a few personal words - making the visit a very personal on - we‘ll come back next time in Paris
Really nice cafe with pefect big terrace that serves classics sometimes with a twist. Food and fresh drinks were tasty, desert was basic. I recommend for chill lunch or dinner
