Steak tartare, escargot & cheese, plus brunch & desserts, in a wood-lined room with colorful walls....
We stopped by Cafe Lateral for a relaxed Parisian café-style meal, and overall the experience was pleasant enough, though not particularly memorable. Atmosphere-wise, it’s quite charming. We were seated inside a little glasshouse section of the restaurant, which I actually enjoyed. Sunlight was streaming through the glass, giving the space a warm, relaxed feel. It had that casual Paris café vibe that makes you slow down a bit and enjoy the moment. Food was a mixed bag. The French onion soup was good, comforting and flavourful, exactly what you hope for with a classic like that. The escargot tasted fine as well, though the portion felt quite small given the price, just half a dozen for what felt like a premium tag. The beef tartare was alright, but nothing special. Perfectly edible, just average at most. The creamy chicken with rice was decent and probably one of the more satisfying dishes we had. Simple, hearty, and straightforward. The pumpkin dish, however, didn’t quite land for me. It felt very one dimensional in flavour, lacking depth or contrast to make it interesting. Service-wise, there isn’t much to say. It was okay, very much what you’d expect from a typical Paris café. Not particularly warm or attentive, but not rude either. Overall, Cafe Lateral is a pleasant enough stop if you’re nearby and want a casual meal in a nice setting. It's a touristy area, just so you should know.
We ended up here randomly for breakfast on Christmas Day, as many other places were closed—and what a lovely surprise it turned out to be. The omelette was a solid 10/10, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The croissant was truly exceptional: unbelievably soft and buttery on the inside, yet beautifully crunchy on the outside. On top of that, the staff were welcoming and genuinely friendly, with service delivered with a smile. A great find and a place I’d happily return
We had a best time here. As tourist, the atmosphere really welcoming and warm. Food was fantastic. We had Liguini with Prawn and Baby octopus, vanilla créme brulee, and hot chocolate. Definitely will recommend this place to our friends!
Thoughtful, warm and nice waiter, delicious homemade fresh food, beautiful setting. We spent a great time with my friends and recommend this place.
I had a very enjoyable breakfast here at Café Latéral🇫🇷💯❤️The inclosed patio area has a view of L’Arc de Triomphe and has great food, great service and is overall a very enjoyable place to have breakfast. I only went once so far but will return for diner sometime. I had the petit dejeuner Anglaise and it was perfect.
