Weekday mornings are the quietest
Having been a regular at this bar for some time, I've always paid €4 for a pint, until today when the waiter came to tell us we had to order a drink every 40 minutes (something that had never happened before, neither here nor in any other bar). He only came to our table to tell us this and didn't go to the others (we weren't the loudest, but we were the youngest). The pint was €5.60 instead of the usual €4 because, and I quote, "there's no happy hour during matches," whereas until now, even during matches, we had always paid €4 for a pint. When paying, I quote, "no discount because I only ordered one pint" (even though I paid for two, mine and a friend's). To top it all off, the fries were tasteless. In short, very disappointed; I used to like this bar.
The manager changes the price every two weeks to avoid having to consume more than a pint of beer during a match. He specifies that normally a drink only lasts 40 minutes.
Great place for a beer and very friendly guys working there.
Very nice spot, not in touristy area so staff are pleasant and there is a nice atmosphere of locals dropping in to say hello. You can get a breakfast of butter and jam tartine (very normal sounding dish but the ingredients are of high quality making it really special) and some rich and bitter coffee for very good value. Staying in Guy Moquet area, this is how I would begin every morning.
The morning formula breakfast was perfect. Fast, good variety, and affordable!
