Café Eugène

Visited for a late snack on a hotel recommendation. My partner ordered steak with eggs and chips; the steak appeared like a beef patty. Since he was expecting a steak he made the order to be rare but what he received was seared raw minced beef but not to the quality standard of a beef tartar. My butternut squash soup was fine, thankfully I wasn’t as hungry and did not have any meat. Several hours later he became seriously unwell with gastrointestinal symptoms. This was the only meal we ate separately, so we know that this dish caused food poisoning. We are very disappointed with this experience. We are now unable to leave our hotel room to go back home so this dish has caused us a lot of trouble. Service was polite and accommodating, but the food quality was concerning. Cafe Eugene, your food caused illness, please do better.

We go to Paris every year and one of our favorite things to do is have lunch here at the top of Montmartre. We get a table outside at Eugene and watch the crowd in this wonderful plaza full of artists and restaurants. We spend a couple of hours sipping our wine and enjoying a good meal.

This place is kind of touristy. It’s just the area. But the local still do come here. The staff is good they all know some level of English and with my little knowledge of French we had no problems ordering. The atmosphere was good. It had a weird French cafe look and feel. Unlike any other cafe I went to in the time I was in Paris. The food was good but a little on the pricey side for what it was. I don’t think this was the case just for this place but rather the whole area. Like they all priced higher due to the conference center close by. Bottom like if you are in the area and are looking for a cute cafe to try this place will suit you just fine.

A very cozy and lovely cafe. I had the petit déjeuner extra, which has almost everything for a really good price. The pastry was excellent, really yummy baguette, amazing coffee and eggs! Highly recommended!
