Went to a small English comedy gig whilst travelling solo. Price of drinks and suggested donation for the comedy was super reasonable. The comedians were really good. Super nice for a small venue and would definitely return!
The shows hete are great specially the arabic stand-up comedy. But the owner was very rude asking if we have reservation or not and that we need to order while getting in directly! I was waiting for a friend so he asked me to wait outside in the street not even near to the outside tables!
The waiter/owner? was very unpleasant. He shouted to the girl in charge of the comedy night because some people were at the bar for the show and not everyone knew it was mandatory to order something. The place lacks charm, it would be completely empty if it wasn't for the comedy show... he also shouted to the people that tried to pass without a drink, instead of letting them know gently. To make things worse, this was my second visit to this bar. First time it was summer, he served martini without ice, without orange/lemon and in dirty glasses, we had to ask him twice to change them. Same if you order corona, Coca-Cola... He doesn't even give you a glass unless you ask for it! He does the bare minimum and with a bitter mood, the bar is doomed.
If you are in Paris, you must go to Broadway! I went with a friend to see Luisa Omielan on tour. How special to be able to see such a talent in an intimate space like Broadway. The show was one of the best I've ever seen. If you ever have the opportunity to see Luisa live, just do it! It would be a disservice to try and describe the magic that is her performance. It is unlike anything I've seen. It's special. Absolutely face hurting hilarious. A performance that stays with you long after you leave the theater. Every person at Broadway was just lovely. A couple men followed us into the club and sat staring. Mel (the owner of the club) made sure to discreetly handle the situation and made us feel safe. We had the opportunity to speak with Mel after the show and share in his excitement for his new club. With Mel's love for performance and this new space, I can't wait to see the club in years to come. I'm a New Yorker who has spent countless hours in comedy clubs. When I'm back in Paris, Broadway will be one of my first stops. Mel, thank you for giving me a small slice of home in Paris.
Didn't know what to do tonight and I found on FB this bar (actually a "Café Comedie") that had an english comedy night. The owner was super friendly and mixed cocktails for me (that wasn't on the menu). The show was great, room was packed (and with A/C) really great vibe, host was really funny and witty (Sadra Sumner). Overall an awesome experience !
