A neighborhood taco and desayunos joint. Nice tacos de guisado, the mole pollo was particularly good, almost malaysian curry like in flavour and heat. Service was friendly but a little slow. Not earth shattering but very nice and a sizable portion.
I didn’t eat the best tacos of my life here. And you know what? I’m totally fine with that. At Taquería El Jarocho, the tacos are solid. Respectable. Dependable. Not the kind that alter your DNA, but also absolutely not the kind that make you sad stare into a lime wedge questioning your choices. Middle of the Venn diagram between hype and disappointment, in a good way. What does slap? The service. Friendly, fast, welcoming, like they were genuinely happy you showed up hungry. That alone carries weight. Did I travel cross town for it? Yep. Do I regret it? Not at all. Sometimes the journey is part of the meal. 7.8/10. Not legendary, but worth the detour and the calories.
Not sure why Michelin recommends this place because their tacos were the worst I've tried - dry meat, very bland (sauces didnt help either), and cold. Plus one of them had undercooked potato pieces in it. I couldn't eat more than 2 bites.
These were maybe the best tacos we’ve ever had. Tacos al pastor has so much flavour and were so juicy. The campechano tacos were crunchy and tasty, maybe my favourite taco ever. Lovely salsas and sides. Everything was cheap, margs were good.
My friend has been coming every Sunday for a decade now. I didn’t believe him until I saw my taco “campechano” What a poem to tacos.. they have been doing this since 1947. You’ll receive the campechano covered with another tortilla, when you take the top tortilla off you know it’s a bout to get real. I was told to make myself two tacos out of it, with extra morita sauce. I’m a good eater and let me tell you. Two campechanos will definitely be enough, I got myself a horchata water and an americano coffee
