Century-old institution known for its spicy house mole recipe, elaborate decor & live mariachi band....
A lively and colorful spot full of charm with grand murals and live music. The atmosphere is energetic and fun, and while a bit touristy, the experience was still very enjoyable. The food was overall solid - enchiladas with mole poblano and quesadillas with chicharrón were both flavorful, with the quesadilla featuring rich pork and blue corn tortillas, and the enchiladas seasoned with a well balanced & lightly spiced mole. The chocolate cake was moist and decadently sweet with a lovely nutty note, and the mezcal drink was a nice finishing touch. Overall, a fun and vibrant spot that’s worth a visit, even just for the lively atmosphere.
Visited Café de Tacuba and it was such a unique experience. This place has an infamous and fascinating history, and you can really feel the old school Mexico City atmosphere the moment you walk in. The décor feels historic and traditional, and it’s clear this restaurant has been around for a long time. They usually have mariachis playing, which adds so much to the vibe, and you can even request songs, which makes it fun and interactive. It’s more than just a meal it feels like stepping into a piece of the city’s past. Definitely worth visiting at least once.
Been waiting to come here for a few years, and we finally made it for dinner — WOW. The historic interior is absolutely stunning, with such a beautiful old-world vibe. The atmosphere was lively and fun, especially with the live mariachis bringing so much energy to the space. It truly felt like an experience, not just a meal. The food was traditional upscale Mexican. We only tried two dishes, but everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Honestly though, the real showstopper was dessert… hello, pan elote ice cream! Can we please take a pint home next time? Service was completely on point — attentive, polished, and welcoming. The wine list was solid, and I had the Tacuba cocktail made with jamaica and mezcal… absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend visiting this iconic, historic restaurant. It’s worth the wait!
Loved this place! The server was incredible and very patient with the group. There was live music and a great atmosphere. I ordered a mushroom quesadilla, guacamole, and an order of beans and all of them were amazing. The meal was on the more expensive end for CDMX but I got more than one meal out of all that I ordered.
Traditional Mexican Food (It’s a whole Experience), maybe you’re gonna see line once you arrive, but it’s so easy and fast to get a table. The service it’s so good and fast, we ordered: ✅ Filete de res: it’s beef with fries and salad, it’s so good! Tasty and fresh ✅ Chuleta de res: its beef was my favorite, really juicy and tasty, same sides fries and salad! ✅ Agua de Horchata: that’s my best recommendation to drink cause it’s not a syrup it’s a real rice drink. They serve bread with some butter, that’s so good I highly recommend the sauce they bring you with that it’s so good! They have live music playing traditional Mexican songs and the place has that old school feeling!
