Bakery was close by to the hostel I was staying at, I wanted to give the cheesecake a try. I think I walked in when they closed, a lady said something to me that I didnβt understand, probably telling me they closed π However, another lady at the counter helped us out and packed up some cakes for us despite being past closing time. Very kind of her! Cheesecake was light and not too sweet. The topping is a strawberry jam, where most of the sugar is. I think itβs better without it, just a personal preference of liking less sweet things.
This place was just okay. The pastries weren't super amazing but passable. The coffee sadly was pretty terrible (double espresso and cappuccino). I would not return but this was the first open place we could find to feed hungry kids.
After walking back to our hotel, we saw this bakery in our way home and wanted to see why it was so packed. Every seat inside was taken except for one high top table at 8:00 PM. We decided to walk in and see what pastries they still had. We chose a marshmallow filled pastry dipped I chocolate, Cafe con Leche & Donut Azucar (Plain Donut). My wife enjoyed sipping on her cafe con Leche while enjoying the donut. This donut definitely had minimal sugar. Itβs funny how accustomed our pallet is to a typical βAmericanβ donut. This was entirely much bigger, fluffier and starchier. Definitely a different take on a donut that mimicked a more European style on donuts. The marshmallow filled pastry dipped in chocolate was very good. Great fluffy marshmallow cream center with a hard outer coating of chocolate. Overall, we are glad we stopped by to enjoy a tasty treat.
Nice and quiet place with awesome pastry and coffee. I am not familiar with the price level in Madrid but they are cheaper than those in Toronto. People mentioned the staffs are rude but the server I had was very nice and friendly
The place looks very new and clean. There is also a great variety of pastries, the one that I tried was very good(the caramel and cream one). It is expensive but the amount is fair. The real reason why I gave 3 stars is that the staff is terribly rude, I asked the lady which pastry was the most traditional one and she shouted in Spanish that all of them were traditional in the Madrid way, and then hurrying me to chose fast looking in a very disgusting way to me (there was no one in the queue).
