Informal dorms & private rooms, some with balconies, in a casual hostel with a restaurant & a bar....
It is clean, safe, welll located but it does not feel like an hostel where you can meet people. There are a lot of rooms, often populated by group of people but not real space to socialize. To note that there is no kitchen to cook. It is more an hotel with dorms. Feel impersonal.
We stayed here in a private room for two nights after arriving in Madrid because we wanted to have easy access to the train station which was pretty much across the street. The room had an great skylight that you can open with a view of the agriculture ministry which was lit up at night. The room was clean and was really nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable but the shower let water go everywhere. Breakfast was OK but not worth the $10. We paid for it because we wanted the convenience of not trying to find food before the early morning trains since most restaurants are closed that early. Hindsight being 20/20, we could have grabbed something at the train station. The room itself was slightly expensive but worth it for the location.
I being only one night. Definitely a place for young people. the reception was really nice. they offer you even a phone number to call if you need something or have a doubt. breakfast was OK. if I have to point something negative is that I would like a kettle in the private room for make a tea at least. and the heater was locked and was impossible for me setting it a bit more up. in general lines I recommend it.
Very close to the Atocha train station if you need a night while traveling through Madrid. The showers are nice and itβs a modern and good looking rooms. If you got a very big suitcase it wonβt fit the personal locker. Some rooms itβs not a problem with space in the room for it though. Like the 7-bedroom dorm I was in last time. The 8-bedroom dorm it worked but was not optimal. There should have been a sink in the room where the toilet is too. And it would also be good if the part of the room with showes and toilet had a door or something between so you easier could shower, brush your teeth etc. and disturbed the others less.
I stayed in this hostel for one night and had a fantastic experience! Right from check in, the staff were so friendly and helpful. Though they knew I spoke English, they asked/offered to speak in Spanish to help me practice if I wanted, which I did! I arrived early and was able to use the storage lockers. I stayed in a 4 bed all female dorm. The room was clean, spacious and had large locker drawers for each person. I participated in the Saturday night pub crawl - so much fun and met awesome people!!! The location is great, not right in the center so its quieter, but still close enough to walk everywhere and super close to the Atocha station. Breakfast was amazing. I will definitely stay here again! Book in advance for best value.
