Bakery/cafe in historic premises, for artisan breads & cakes, plus coffee & savory lunch dishes....
Great breakfast spot in Madrid! Excellent coffee, delicious pastries, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend🥰
Maybe I came on a bad day, but the food was terrible. I ordered the Desayuno Americano and it was barely edible. The “bacon” was just heated up slices of ham, so salty it was inedible for me. The scrambled eggs were just ok. The toast was tough and over toasted. The coffee was burnt and again barely drinkable. The juice was fine. The bacon/ham was actually barely cooked at first and I had to send it back. (Attached picture is of the bacon AFTER they refried it, still looks terrible). No apology. Overall very disappointing. Do not recommend at all.
Just want you want a bakery in Spain to be. Quaint and comfortable. Had the American Breakfast, Crumble de Manzanas and a delicious Cafe con leche. Sweet staff who met our minimal Spanish with fine English. Very fast and affordable. Just up the block from the laundry.
Made it before it got really busy. Food was out very quickly. The Andalusian breakfast with Iberian ham on whole wheat with grated tomato was incredibly delicious. The natural breakfast of yogurt with fruits and seeds was so tasty. Cappuccino was piled high with foamy milk. Loved it.
OK. I really like this place and visited on several occasions and this is my conclusion. The bakery- as you walk in - is absolutely terrific with a great range of delicious treats. However, the cafe section (found by walking through the ”shop”) seems like an uncared for afterthought. The coffee and tostada were distinctly average and it is a strange layout with inconsistent service. Obviously, the baked goods are terrific and I enjoyed a remarkable Basque cheesecake, but the rest is not wonderful. An inconsistent experience.
