No issue with the staff in store but the company is awful. They got me to go down to this store to replace some shoes, where the sole had ripped in the first week. Did not have it in stock to replace it. Also discontinuedthe shoe. Told me that whilst not online, another store had it. Had to walk ages as it is in the congestion charge zone. Then the other store that had it did not pick up phone (Covent Garden- Snow and Ice- same group company). I let them know not to throw away the shoes as whilst slightly damaged could be repaired and I needed them as they were specialist. They threw them away. Shocking waste. They did not reimburse me my money for travel, nor postage that I paid for delivery. Truly awful company. I am still waiting for them to reply to my email of two weeks ago. Went to Runners North West online in the end. Great experience. Great touches too! Go here instead.
Worst experience ever. Do not come unless you don’t mind being coldly neglected and disrupted with discrimination. The staff member completely discriminated and ignored me and disrupted me every time when I tried to ask for help. All I wanted was a pair of hiking boots and some professional advice, yet all I got was disappointment. There’s is no good reason to treat someone with such coldness and rudeness. Him serving other white customers so warmly just made everything worse. I talked to the manager and asked for an apology, yet he acted like he sympathised while doing nothing to deal with this matter at all.
If it was possible to visit a specialist shop and find sales people who are less engaged, interested in what you need or in anyway helpful, I would be surprised. They lost out on over £700 in sales today as they just could not be bothered to help. Really disappointing
I went to Cotswold-Spitalfields in search of a raincoat. I'm a birder. Originally I bought a super nice coat from Arc'teryx but it was really crinkly and too loud to be used for birding so I returned it. I did some research on the internet and the Mountain Equipment Makalu jacket had very good reviews. On google it said Cotswold-Spitalfields had it. But they also had Sikandar. He was the sale associate who helped me. He looked online and found that it was indeed in stock. He went to where they were in the store and had me try on a large, (too small, they fit small), and an X-large. The X-large fit great and best news of all, it was quiet. Sikandar also offered me other alternatives but the Makalu jacket really did fit the bill and I understand why it is so highly rated. If you're ever in need of a good rain jacket I would would recommend this one and I would highly recommend going to Costwold-Spitalfield to get it because Sikandar's customer service is exceptional.
Exceptional Service & Expert Advice – Highly Recommend! I recently visited Cotswold Outdoors in Spitalfields to purchase a new pair of running shoes, and I was incredibly impressed by the service I received from Freddie. From the moment I walked in, Freddie was welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about helping runners find the right gear. He took the time to conduct a full Gait Analysis, which included: • A treadmill assessment to observe my running stride (which was over pronating) • Video playback to highlight areas for improvement (there were many) • A detailed breakdown of foot strike, posture, and cadence • Recommendations tailored to my biomechanics and running goals What really stood out was Freddie’s ability to critique and improve my running form on the spot by making me run up and down the shop floor, all while quoting lyrics from long forgotten 80's and 90's hip hop & soul music (another one of my passions) He offered practical tips that immediately made a difference in how I moved, and his insights were both professional and easy to understand. Thanks to his guidance, I left not only with the perfect pair of shoes (and some up-sold socks) but also with a renewed confidence in my running technique. This was far more than a retail experience—it felt like a mini coaching session! If you're a runner—whether beginner or seasoned—I can't recommend this store (and Freddie in particular) highly enough. A brilliant example of expert customer service and genuine care. My only suggestion for an improvement? a record deck for Freddie to spin a tune or two ;-)
